The Aroma of Ancestry: Inside Hanoi's Enchanting Incense Village | VIETNAM

For a very unique and picturesque experience in Hanoi, visiting Hanoi Incense Village (Quang Phu Cau) is an absolute must.
We recommend going on a sunny weekday and arriving before 10 or 11am to enjoy the little village dedicated to the traditional craft of incense making. We spent about 2 hours in Quang Phu Cau Incense Village.
Catching the local public bus is extremely cost effective and pretty straight forward when accompanied by using Google Maps. You only really need to worry about communicating where you are going to the ticket guy on the bus. You can practice saying the name "Quảng Phú Cầu" as pronounced in our video (it was decent enough for locals to understand us!) or show them the name on Google/Google Maps when they come to collect payment.

1) Catch the bus from Bến Xe Yên Nghĩa (Yen Nghia Bus Station)

2) Take bus line 91
3) Be ready at the door to hop off at:

4) Walk around, explore the village on foot
5) When ready to go back to Yen Nghia Bus Station, catch the line 91 bus across the road from where you hopped off:

NB: if you plan on taking a Grab taxi to the incense village, you might want to organise for them to wait for you as there may not be many if any Grab taxis to take you back to the city.

Each are a pretty short walk away from each other and have their own distinctive charm. If you wish to take photos/videos of locals at work along the street, be sure to ask for their permission first.

That banh uot that is my favourite dish. I had it the last time I was in VN. They sell it alot here at any Asian grocery store but not the same 😅

Yay public transportation 🚎 (from Yen Nghia Bus Station no less 😁😁😁)! The best!! Have to find out what Yen means in Vietnamese because I see it frequently 😁😁. I didn’t see the platform wobbly or shaking…all I saw were some awesome Oofos 😂. Beautiful setting and great photos! I’ve found, in general, the guys working the tourist spots really have the photos dialed in. Banh cuon!!! Yummmmmmmm…. Great food, great photos, great memories, great day! You mentioned cinnamon flavor in "banh cuon"? Is that a substitute for "ca cuong's" essence? (giant water bug or Lethocerus Indicus' ) essence, extracted from the insect's head or brain.

Hello, we've never been asked for a tip in Vietnam after 3 trips there. We gave a tip to the guy who helped us because he was so kind to us. He was so shocked that he ended up taking us to see more of the village 😂

Dunno why there are some of those around 😅 I guess it does happen but we've never encountered it in Vietnam and we've been there quite a few times plus travelled throughout the country too! We happily give tips to our rowers too for sure though coz it's such a tiring job they've got. And yea super nice of the guy in the village! We just communicated with him through Google translate 😁
