My newly purchased (in mint condition) DFX came with a 12" 300 mm coil and I put this coil on my MXT and turned this way above average so, so metal detector it into a metal finding beast. I showed it to a friend who took it home and haven't seen it since. I got my DFX 300 coil back and bought another MXT 300. I have a new in the box Arrow coil which I havent tried yet. I wanted the MXT to back-up my GMT and newer 24K out in the Western States goldfields. AZ, CA, CO, ect. The DFX, with its higher frequency should be a better small gold detector than the MXT... so we shall see! They are both gona be great for silver coins around older homes.

Marshall, if you were a person who wasn't too keen on technology and just wanted a machine that could do a pretty good job at finding gold items and some coins, then which of those machines in your video would you recommend? I have owned a White's 6000 DI Pro and I've owned a MXT for a very short while....I traded it to a friend for a Fisher CZ6 and recently I bought another CZ6 on Ebay. Let me tell you, I've had some pretty decent luck relic hunting and old coin hunting with CZ 5 and CZ6 metal detectors. I am kind of thinking about getting another White's machine just to see what I can do with it. You've got me wondering if I could find more gold items with a White's. I've known some serious detectorist who say that White's machines are very good for finding old silver coins.

I've had my DFX for over 20 years and it is hands down the best discriminating metal detector I've used. I bought some of today's modern machines like the AT Maxx for instance and it's a strong machine and the Fisher CZ-21 which I really do like but I went right back to the DFX because of how the VDI is so accurate that people watching me are stunned how I not only tell them it's a penny but I know if it's before or after 1982. I can call the nickel from the pulltabs and even quite a bit of gold from aluminum using the DC Phase shift reading. And I rarely get a bag full of nails in fact I often don't even dig 1.

I am so sorry for the late Reply, I would Get a VX3 or a M6 or MXT pro with the updated audio tones. These three are simple and will do great with small Gold. If you are going deep for silver I think the Xterra Pro by Minelab is a best.

@@understandingtruth10 I have a new MXT PRO with both the 300 coil and the newer DD coil which makes it equal to the MXT ALL PRO... but I think I am considering getting the E 900 verses the Extera Pro or Manticore next because the E 900 can run a dual frequency in gold field mode which the E 800 can not do. I want to search for small pieces of gold shallow and at the same time be able to hit larger gold nuggets deeper if they are there. If the Manticore can match the E 900 in goldfield mode... (someday in the near future) then I would consider it because of its higher energy into the coil verses the E 900. I expect the Manticore will keep up with the best deep silver vlf detectors... around old houses and in parks, but for some reason it was not developed to find small gold as well as the E 900.
