Watkins scored 19 goals and got 13 assists in the premier league last season, he's consistently getting at least 20 goal contributions in the league every season, why are people pretending as if Watkins is average?

Exactly. We would be very fortunate if we could land him. And when you look at the likes of Kane and Barca's front man (don't want to butcher the spelling lol) this age thing is a bit of a mute point. Watkins to me seems highly professional and I could see him performing at a high level until 34/35, giving us 5 seasons

So many of us Arsenal fans our embarrassing .. we want it both ways. Ready to go and proven... but can't be 29.... Yet all excited about Tel who can't get into Bayern... It seems the only acceptable answer for some is a 23 year old with multiple seasons of 40+ goal contributions..

Regarding this charge, I would issue a "public" response to the FA along the following lines: "Dear FA, while we believe the charge for failing to control our players is unfair-especially given how similar incidents have gone unpunished in other games over recent seasons-we would like to propose an alternative. Instead of paying the fine to the FA, we suggest that the amount be donated to Macmillan or another charity of their choosing. Furthermore, if you agree to this, we will contribute an additional £10,000 to the donation." This approach puts the FA in a position where they either support a charitable cause or risk being seen as blocking a donation to a worthy charity. It ensures that not a penny of the fine goes into the FA’s pockets, presents Arsenal in a strong moral position, and most importantly, directs a substantial sum of money to a good cause.

Great video Tom, agree with your input on these comments. I'm also torn on Watkins but I think our window of winning is now, I watched clive and elliot scout on sesko, they've done 3 on him, one now, one last summer, and one the previous and I couldn't believe how raw he was, genuinely was staggered this was the player people were talking about, he could barely trap the ball, constantly losing it, making the wrong decision. With the odd wonder goal. Its obvious to see if he can get that sorted he'd be a besat, but our winning run is the next 2 years with this age group, and Sesko would take two years based to start for us imo, Ollie Watkins imo would give us more over the next two years. What does make me nervous on Watkins is we all want the star and feel we need the star which imo we still do, and due to the sustainability of the club once we lock in Watkins thats it for 3 or 4 years. If you could predict a Barcola also coming in or a Nico williams which obviously you absolutely can't then the Watkins signing would make a lot of sense. I also think we need to look at upgrading the 11 as you said with the striker so I do agree, but with the winger i think we need to look to upgrade on Martinelli in the Summer. If we can get a strong lw and 9 option with zubimendi we can really look to hit the ground running next season.

We've had ample time to both identify suitable targets, and prepare for a transfer move in January. All I hear are excuses each and every transfer window as to why we're not able to acquire a striker.

Thanks for another good video Tom. Just been reflecting on the Tel situation. And when you think of Nketiah going for 35m, paying 50m for Tel seems less wild. As his ceiling is undoubtedly (in my eyes) much higher. But I do understand your concern. And like you I hope more than anything in this window we can sign a centre forward, ideally sesko (but I would also be content with Watkins)

I'd happily take Watkins right now - he's not quite in that superstar bracket of striker for me, but there's only about 5 or 6 forwards in the world who are right now, imo, and I don't see any of them moving to us any time soon. The money doesn't bother me - £60m works out at, what, £12m a year (for the next 5 years) added to our expenses? Even 80m would only work out at 16m per year in repayments. That should be more than comfortable given that Deloitte have recently reported that our annual income has increased by 35% from the previous year to £605m - if my math is right (and there's a fair chance it's not, so don't quote me on this) that's roughly an extra £155m *per season* we have to work with, so 12-16m would barely make a dent in it (even with wages thrown in). Tbh, I think we probably all need to update our thinking on money a little - we're in an era when you make something like 170m a season just for finishing somewhere near the top of the Premier League and for domestic TV deals, so 60-80m for a decent player is just the new average. If you can unearth a gem for less then f--king A! Do it. But I don't think we have to panic about paying full price when we have to.

They are different types in that Watkins likes to run in behind defences whilst Sesko at 6 foot 5 is more of a target man .. also they are at opposite ends of the age spectrum.. doesn’t feel like great planning COYG

I like think the transfer window is like a menu. If you can’t get your preferred choice, the alternatives might not be what you’re really after and the ones that are might also not be available so what you go for next might not be obviously sensible

To be honest I’m beginning to wonder if we may aswell just wait for the summer now.. we needed strengthening at the start of January in which we’ve gone out of two cups ( almost ) and dropped 4 points in the PL . The damage has been done to a large extent and with the fixtures far less congested from here on in and players returning the need is not as pressing as it was

The FA charge is a complete joke. Firstly, why would it take them 5 days to charge the club? The surrounding of the ref is pretty clear cut and there is pictorial evidence of it, so it should have been done pretty much immediately. Instead they have waited to do it until we have won the appeal against the red card ban for MLS. Childish and pathetic attempt to, as Tom says, have the last word! Secondly, if we are being charged for this, I do hope they are going to charge every club. I cannot think of a single game I have seen where players from both teams have not at some point surrounded the ref for some reason!

Very, very underwhelmed with this transfer new Ollie does not enthuse me with any confidence just reminds me about another Ollie who flattered to decieve. The fact that we are going for Ollie seems to suggest that something is a miss here, either we don't have as much money as we think.or there is some fiscal shakes we are not aware of Pfp (domestic or European) because we really should be looking at a sesko, gyorkeres or Santiago Jimenez in ways of strikers
