Great to see you smiling again and joking around (love that sly grin!)… I hope the grieving process is nearing its end and the healing is setting in more each day…and welcome back to the great state of NC, second only to PA…God speed.

I must say, the area surrounding Camp Daniel Boone is one of the best parts of the Appalachians. I went to the camp last summer to do one of their high adventure itineraries in Panthertown Valley. I'd strongly recommend hiking there, but you will come across people if you go to some of the waterfalls on the main trails.

If you’re living near the Smokies now, you should hike some of the trails that go up to places on the AT where you’ve already been but there’s some beautiful ways to get there. Like Anthony Creek to Thunderhead aka Rocky Top. Really beautiful in the snow. Or hike the section between Clingmans and Newfound Gap when it’s green. Thru hikers miss the best part of the year there because they get there too early. It’s amazing when it’s green. Or Wayah Bald when the color is best in about 10 more days.

I never hiked in trail runner sneakers I had Vasque with ankle support or even good workboots. I was never a pizza person and I won't say what I called it. I was a sub/hoagie person I don't care how good everyone says the pizza is it's a fib/lie. When hiking multiple bags of jerky. good to see you back out there kid-o.
