Wonderful! Eta Carinae is a supernova, isn´ t it?

That big dual-lobed shape you see in the images is the Homunculus Nebula which is formed out of some massive event that occurred in the Eta Carinae star system. The Eta Carinae stars are intact though. They are a binary pair that are highly variable in brightness and every ~five years come super close to each other.
