Love you guys! Last year walked my first Camino following your wisdom and now I am preparing my second. Thank you so much. You are fantastic and I hope to meet you in person one day. I have some physical restrictions. last year I walked from Tui and took all the alternative routes. This year I will walk from Lugo to Santiago and from Santiago to Fisterre. I am 62 almost and walk sola: profound experience. And After listening to one of your videos yesterday, I am thinking the second two weeks of June. Safe travels to Japan! Will bring your jornal this time.

Hi Silvia! Thank you so much for getting in touch! We absolutely adore hearing stories from those who embark on the Camino journey… falling in love with it and returning to walk it again is truly special. And a big salute to you for making this journey solo; it adds a completely unique dimension to the Camino experience! Please, if you have any, send us some pictures or tag us on Facebook. We’d love to see your adventures with the Journal. 🥰🙏

May I recommend a trick with drybags. While closing it - sit on it. You'll be amazed of how flat it gets.
@stephaniejames6672 Жыл бұрын
Ever since I saw your video on types of pilgrims - the one where you have the enthusiast picking out the fastest-drying clothes from their drying rack, which is hilarious - when I see my drying rack, I’m picking out the fast-drying winners. (It’s always the merino, because merino is the only thing I want anymore.) I’m planning a 10-14 day trek across Scotland before beginning my Camino, so I will have two packs when I travel to Europe: one light pack, and one very heavy one. I am happy to find out that I can send all the supplies I don’t need to Santiago for very little expense using a service from Express Bourricot. So, for example, if you have to put your backpack in a duffel bag to keep it safe from the airport handlers, you can put your tourist clothes in there, too, and send the extra travel supplies ahead to Santiago - and not carry it on your back the whole Way. They don’t even charge rent for it, and there is no time limit. What a luxury!

I finally followed your advice. I bought a merino, long sleeve top. In a sale, half price, three sizes too big. Oh I thought, shrink to fit. I've just read the label, especially treated to stop shrinkage.......

Great video! Too many people overpack and carry way more weight than they need. My first Camino I had managed to get my pack weight to around 11-12 lbs. I trimmed that down (20 years in the Army destroyed my knees and back) to around 4 lbs without water weight and food that I would carry. I could maybe go a little lighter, but then it's getting "stupid" light and would be neglecting necessities
@caminotellers Жыл бұрын
On the second Camino this year, I had to leave my little guitar at home as my back also was complaining about unnecessary weight! And yes, I had to change a bag pack and now it’s only 1.2 kg…
@stephaniejames6672 Жыл бұрын
The word you were looking for is “clothespin.” Clothes pin, but one word. A peg is also a clothespin, but the kind that doesn’t have a hinge, like a safety pin would.

Useful video. But how about sleeping bags? Oh, and I've found it very useful to have a power bank, cause in some albergues there aren't enough sockets for everyone, or you arrive late and get a bed in the middle of the room, and don't want to disturb sleeping neighbours.
@annarivera3348 Жыл бұрын

Superb video ! You mentioned putting vaseline on your feet before the walk, does this makes them a bit oily at the end of the day or it gets absorbed ? also what size are your backpacks (for 5kg they look nice and small, maybe you can even take them on board in an airplane) ? The name of the thing for the washing is μανταλάκι (mantalaki, Greek,), just in case you come hiking in Greece 😁 !
