i watched this and now I can't unsee it. Up on a ladder scraping paint and one of the boards is rotted and needs replacing...variation delays completion. Finish as you go = less ladder placements. Brilliant! I'm glad I scouted the job beforehand and had pre-primed siding on hand. Work flows; everybody glad-hands the labor, only a few clear the decks for the crews. We could all use more training. 😎

Im a CPM scheduler and i put alot of time and effort into them, and literally no one looks at them. We are forced to use P6. I feel like the only people who know how to read them are the people that build them.

Same. I've been a scheduler for 23 years. It's no better today than it was when P3 was the big deal.

critical chain and critical path are different -n i was confused because Jason interchanged between the two. But CCPm is based on the theory of constraints and does align with Littles Law etc because it recommend reducing WIP to improve throughput. I think Jasons use of the word CCPM was maybe a slip of the tongue?

Takt planning would work well in manufacturing. I struggle (as a 23 veteran of construction scheduling), getting people to understand, I guess, takt scheduling. I didn't know there was such a thing. Of course, I've only used P6 and MS Project. But, I struggle to get PMs to understand the concept of "crews" and movement. Especially when work areas are constrained by outside forces. Lightbulb moment! Unfortunately, this will do me no good in the industry that still struggles with a concept other than "hey you."

I liken it to watching little league soccer matches vs an Olympic team: Little league has all the kids on the team running with the ball falling all over each other. Total chaos. Professionals have a play to run, because they watched the tape of the last game and learned from their blind spots, and they have learned to trust their peers will be where they say they will be, and pass the ball all the way down the field to kick one in for the win. Trade stacking is Mickey Mouse BS, and everyone hates you for it. There is ALWAYS a better way than having no plan at all.
