I love rotating on broken moon where the safe circle hugs the circular mountains and there is only 1 passage that leads to zone. I now have to run half the map to get into a zone thats 50 meters away through 1 choke point with no cover that a team is holding.

This was the video that I first saw on your channel. This video does not have the direct information dense, but human and passionate style the original did. Istead is much more lighthearted, and focused on telling a story. The comedy in this video is not bad. But it gives this new version a very different style that is NOT better than the old style. I wouldn't say this version is worse, but I feel sad that you think this is better. And I personally liked the original style more for this video.

Good video, just a small critique, what you call "micro rotate" isn't really a thing. Rotation is always talking about macro, it's called a rotation because the zone is a circle and your path through the map is rarely ever a straight line to the middle of the circle; there's usually teams in front of you, so you end up "rotating" around the axis of the circle as you get closer and closer to the middle. Think of it like a piece of string nailed to the middle of the circle and your movement is limited to the continuous tightening of the string pulling you forward while you yo-yo(rotate). What you call "micro rotate" doesn't exist. Your goal once you've done the macro rotation is position in the best place in the circle. This is obviously called "positioning". Zone and edge teams have a different understanding of what positioning is best, but even igls have differences- one part of the skill diff between igls is this knowledge and foresight. For example, god spot can be the game winning spot, but that doesnt mean an edge comp can hold it. So sometimes you have to give that area a pass so you can focus on a more manageable position while killing teams 1 by 1 as they rotate to you. Even better example is when hal slid down to the fence in the video. You called this a micro rotate- but i think this isn't exactly perfect terminology- if a team pushed him on the fence and he retraced his footsteps, would that be another micro rotate? It really doesn't make sense because hes moving away from the zone so its not a rotation. BUT, it IS positioning in the zone and against enemies if he did that. Anyway i hope this helps.

I'd argue that most of the terminology between "micro-rotates" and "positioning" is more semantics than anything else. Rotating in the context of competitive games isn't originated from Apex, and is used for a ton of different applications for different games. And hardly only sits on the literal idea of "rotating". The physical meaning of rotating hardly has any relevance to how the word is used in video games. And for the term Micro-Rotate specifically. I don't disagree. It IS positioning, but the term is used in Apex and is definitely "real", I'm not the first to use it. The term is applied more so for when an entire team moves to control a new position in a mid-late game situation in Apex, but the overlap between that and Positioning is pretty obvious. Since this is a video called "Art of the Rotate" I felt it more fitting to use that and apply it. But in the end, it largely doesn't matter. Whichever you use, it's a ton of fun to learn, and whatever terminology works for you and your team is what's best!

@MooreOverVO I think calling it micro rotating dilutes the concept somewhat of positioning. I think the semantics of the word choices matter in this case because having a clear understanding of what your igl is meaning makes for a more cohesive plan. Yes you could argue that the meaning of micro rotation and rotation in general has been used in other games, but specifically in a BR with closing zones, I'd say rotation more closely resemble what I'm saying that it's imparting the concept more readily. If we go with your analogy that everything you do is rotation, it's vague and unclear and not purposeful. It loses its meaning. By attaching the idea of axis to the centre of the circle and the act of rotating being the movement around that axis, I think it better reflects the paths you would take (an indirect one around the axis). Plus I couldn't find the origin of the word being used first, but I'm nearly certain it's used within the context I'm saying because FPS as games are designed around geometry of positioning. Where you peek influences the semi circle/dome of vision you have. So the physical aspect of rotation for me is purposeful and is probable otherwise it wouldn't be used. As for positioning, calling it micro rotation confuses the topic because I'm not rotating every time I'm moving because my movement is not always relative to the circle. I'm definitely repositioning for better angles relative to the fight. For me the concept of rotation doesn't apply at all in that scenario. Anyway I enjoyed the video but I definitely think you could rethink the term micro rotate. I'd be hard pressed to think any pro team has ever claimed to micro rotate in a fight as you claimed.
