The Artifice Drop Rate in Competitive is Worse than I Thought!

In today's video, I discussed the drop rate of artifice armor inside of competitive crucible in Destiny 2. I am an ascendant-ranked player which means I have the highest drop rate possible. Despite this, I still found the drop rate to be staggeringly low, so I proposed some possible solutions to this problem.

It’s absolutely insane they rolled this new stuff out like this. What a slap in the face to PvP players. Ima a solo player that does a ton of PvP. I been pushing comp lately to rank up because I knew we could get artifice armor. It’s not even worth it. The armor should never been lower than a 60-62 roll and should come with 2 spikes min. I really wish that would stop doing this stuff.

@@FraDestiny I feel at this point within Destiny 2 extremely long development life cycle its just run out of headroom in terms of what can be achieved, simply because the wrong systems were implemented at inaccurate times. Core management just live in a glass town and want the utopian vision of a videogame..called Destiny AOE M&k support Crossplay FOV New content.... Story based seasonal models. To name but a very small few The entire game just feels bloated & disjointed now all thanks to DCV and sunsetting due to system limitations so end result is new player's can't keep up & veterans are bored out of their minds..or angry as sections of the core game they loved and paid for are simply just cut n thrown in a bin (DCV) only to be resold back to them or reskined and told her ya go all new weapon's & gear...it's massively disappointing to see the architects of Halo combat evolved & Halo 2 & 3 devolve into this shambolic state. Core systems just don't work..very Serious stability issues with in-game networking...and yet a lost sector bugs will be patched within an hour and yet raids bugging out takes months to fix worst still hard cheating in competitive has carried on since the start of cross... Jumping in & out of bed with publishing companies due to Burn rate on a monumental scale....all wile trying to fly the flag of independence an autonomy. Preaching preaching inclusiveness but swinging the hammer of censorship soon as the player base dares to question any decision the company makes that is seen as remotely questionable. In closeing I can see Sony entertainment taking over the helm if final shape don't land well...and yes it's heartbreaking to watch as the gunplay and overriding story of the franchise is amazing. I want to be wrong about this being the end but Bungie is not inspiring hope at this point 😥

I do agree with always a drop on a win. I don’t pvp at all, but your right, I wouldn’t like to win and not got a drop when in pve you’ll get it even when playing incompetently.

Out of 7 armor drops so far I got one really good one at base 67 with great spikes (making it up to 92 stat) which has kept me hopeful but literally no other drops yet look similarly even promising

64 is the highest I’ve seen and it had no stat spikes. It seems like every once in a blue moon a high stat roll will drop but I haven’t seen one yet.

I am currently playing on an old GEN console with a broken controller and I am still managing to win games and actually put up points on a leaderboard. I agree with every point you said in this video and I appreciate you making a note of it. I do in fact, think if you are currently playing in the highest possible rank. You should be guaranteed a piece of art or armor on a win. I think it is absurd that if you are the highest rank in the game, you are not guaranteed at least one piece of armor for a win. That’s ridiculous.

That sounds about right. I was platinum, but had a bad run all the way down to Bronze. Now I'm back to gold about ready to break into Platinum again and I haven't had any more drops since the first few at the beginning of the week. Most of them were low base stats so I scrapped them. Total waste of time IMO.

The thing is that being the highest possible rank in comp really doesn’t mean anything or make you “deserve” that armor since comp is skilled based matchmaking not ranked based match making. Meaning, even players that are not that great (like my self) can get to ascendent rank with enough time. I’m an average player with a 1.2 kd and I’m no where near as good as some ppl like cammycakes, gernaderjake, frost bolt, zk, etc… but all of us are in the same rank and that’s just not right to me. If it was RBMM, id probably be in platinum while they’re in ascendent. My point is that I agree with what you said about ppl being guaranteed artifice armor on a win in ascendent rank but that should only be the case if it was RBMM not SBMM. If it were up to me I’d make comp RBMM and have your chance of getting that armor increase on a win the more you rank up until you get to max rank which then it would be guaranteed as long as you win and the armor would be able to roll 68s instead of 62s like it is now.

Bungie said in one of there recent twabs that comp is ranked base matchmaking now with some parameters in place to stop people from smurfing. However, I think the system is still flawed with how it distributes points at the end of the game because there are a lot of people in ascendant that probably don’t belong there as you said. But I honestly don’t care if a bunch of extra people get that hypothetical guaranteed drop of artifice armor on a win because it would still be better than what we have now

I did misspeak because technically weapons can drop in place of artifice armor when you complete an encounter. But when farming a final boss you are going to get around 1 artifice drop per completion on average.

I agree with all your points but at least it's a step in the right direction. Something is better than nothing. There's always gonna be a more efficient way to grind certain items (unless a specific weapon encounter) But most pvp players would never touch a raid, dungeon gm. So they can get some while doing something they enjoy. Which is PVP And btw what were the stats on the armor? Low 60s mid or high?

Low 60s on all my armor that I’ve gotten so far, highest was a 64 stat rolll with no spikes. “Something is better than nothing” is exactly what I said in my twab read video. And it’s definitely true but they can always do better

I haven't read the TWAB and got an artifice gauntlets after 8 matches, bad roll by the way. I won't use it in my builds just because of it's base stats are too low and an extra mod slot won't help here. Then I played more and got zero drops, so I just decided that there's no more chances, only the 1 guaranteed item after 8 matches... Now you explained that it's just an RNG, so I can confirm it's too rare and the rolls are too bad to consider this whole topic an extra motivation to play comp.

FYI there is no more “extra mod slot” on artifice armor. The extra slot is a +3 stat bonus to a stat of your choice. So whenever you get artifice you can add +3 to your stat roll and that’s the actual stat of the armor.

I’ve played so many matches after my initial guaranteed drop of armor from the challenges the last 2 weeks. This week alone 11-3, about to break into adept not a single armor drop at all. Not sure if it’s bad luck, horrendous drop rate or a god awful combo of the 2. This has potential, but as of now it’s a soul sucking grind

If they were dropping at 67-69 with +3 stats to get them to 70-72 then id say its worth farming and id do it even with low drop rate. But i have no need for a 64 roll my armor after being fully enchanced is all 70+ which means they were 68 adleast at base so why tf do i need these low rolls. Does no good for anyone.

In comp, one doesn’t play against another person’s skill; you play against the algorithm. As a solo player you WILL LOSE after you win 1 or 2 matches. It’s obnoxious. And if you are lucky and win 8 matches in a row, your artifice armor will be AVERAGE AT BEST. There Bungie… PROVE ME WRONG⏳

Yup, the stats on the armor sucked. The ones that i got was like 60 base. Not worth keeping. Ascendant 1 rank. Im glad i got all 3 of my characters the class items. Hopefully this week is better.

I played a bunch of comp (also ascendent) and won almost every game, but I only got two drops after the weekly two wins. It sucks that they were barely dropping, but when they did drop I got duplicates with worse stats every time. It wasn’t even worth it.

Solid argument. 100% chance is too much though. If you want to keep the comparison to dungeons then you have to accept that dungeons require 3 ppl to do them easily and the time involved in building teams and getting to bosses, etc is longer than just queing for a game that lasts 10+ minutes. Maybe 50% or 75% at max rank but yeah right now its too low.

Nah the time involved to get to a final boss of a dungeon is like 20-30 minutes max which is much less time than the minimum 8 games you have to play in comp for the 3rd tier of the challenge. On top of that, queueing for a comp game, playing out the match, and winning that match takes longer than completing any dungeon encounter. I think a 100% drop rate would actually be pretty fair considering you’d have to be in ascendant and win your matches. And putting together a team for a dungeon is not difficult at all either, I’ve lfg’d almost every time I’ve farmed master dungeons and had no problem.

I have gotten artifice armor and all of my rolls are 61 based and I was like why I am doing if I already have good stats in all my characters except my hunter and is not artifice armor and still have better stats than that armor from comp

After playing 6-9 comp matches every win should guarantee artifice drop regardless of rank. Lesser skilled players are not going to participate and increase the player pool when their drop chance at silver rank is 0. End game pvp is much more difficult than end game pve, that's not a controversial statement.

What upsets me the most about this “additional content” is that it forces you to play a minimum of eight games PER CHARACTER. They should never have made it that you have to play games and then WIN games. From the very beginning they should’ve just made it so it drops on game completions, and with wins, given it a higher chance to drop. Such a pathetic attempt to keep people playing an already obnoxious mode… I still enjoy pvp to a degree but it’s just in an awful spot with Bungie running the show.

I think based on the drop rates with artifice armour, yes they should up the drop rate by 2 times, thats it, here is why i think this should be, a competent team in a dungeon would probably fail a few times and even some of the best players could fail, due to bull crap, no seriously, some of those encounters take like 15 to 20 minutes minimum, and can be reset due to half the enemies blasting you from all sides, the boss deciding to come join them in the fun, and the exploding ones are chasing you endlessly, not to mention the damn champions/hive guardians that can 2 tap you, and when you do complete it, its usually a 58 maxed int and mobility roll and the 15th weapon you already have the rolls you want for. Unless your someone who is a god at pve and has godly luck, then yes its faster than pvp. Other than that i did agree with most your other points.

I’ve farmed master dungeons with not much problem at all. Maybe the occasional wipe due to some bs. But the artifice armor is only dropping on wins in comp anyway so it’s the same deal. And those encounters do not take 15-20 minutes to complete, if they do you gotta improve your build. Now the armor being bad stat rolls is a whole different issue that applies to both dungeons and comp. They definitely need to improve artifice armor.

Back when duality had the frist encounter bug that let you farm it easily i did 60+ master runs and have kept only ONE peice of artifice armour and i don't even use it 😂

At the very least, they should make it like a system where there more points or rank you have the more chance for you to get it, to a maximum of 100% drop at max rank. Each rank should have its own drop rate or percentage. From the least or basic being, you win a certain number of matches are you are guaranteed an armour and also, somehow make it so that you don't get what you got before. They already have a system that tracks our drops. Why not use it for this???

Something like a stacks of percentage. Every 4 wins guarantees a drop but wins 1 and 2 and 3 go up in chance by 25 percent respectively. Meaning with really good rng you cab get 4 in 4 wins but at worst you'll get atleast 1. Stacks reset after each drop

If it's actually 30% drop on a win that doesn't surprise me and is actually not that bad when you realize most end of match drops are engrams. I will only support winners getting more loot if MM actually makes matches hard and balanced but lobby balancing will never go away so I will always have a bum duo ruining my game. 90% of duos suck.

This game is driven by loot. If they up the artifice drop rate in comp it will bring more players to the playlist which will allow for better matchmaking. The lack of loot is why the playlist is dead and the matches are unbalanced half the time

Its especially pointless as we have almost limitless engrams to roll for 66-68 spikey drops from the various seasonal activities. I can literally take my pick of 15-20 items daily that are all better stats than this garbage. Huge disappointment.

@@FraDestiny I can at any moment, when putting a new build together, go decrypt 100-150 engrams and be guaranteed that a good proportion of these will land within my 66-68 band. I would suggest to Bungie that they actually play their own game for a minute and realise that dropping artifice armour at sub 65 is absolutely pointless. The March changes, for me, have been a huge anticlimax. It's made up my mind that I WILL be playing Dragon's Dogma before the end of the month. And I don't even like Dragons. Or Dogs. And I'm only relatively fond of my Ma.

I think its fine to have artifice armor drop most in PvE. Destiny 2 is a primarily PvE game, with PvP haphazardly added on the side. I don't understand why it is a big deal that artifice armor has low drop rates. If you're ascendent, then a master dungeon should be nothing to you since you are already very familiar with how D2 works. Just go play a week of PvE when GoA is farmable and then your problem is gone.

I’m curious why you want artifice to drop mostly in pve, plus dungeons are a paywall. Why wouldn’t you want to there to be an equivalent end game track for good loot in PvP?

@FraDestiny I don't see why there should be artifice for PvP. As I said, D2 is a primarily PvE game, and imo, the endgame of PvP is skill, godroll weapons, and Trials. The endgame of PvE is artifice armor, GM's, and raids. Artifice armor is mostly cosmetic for PvP, so I don't see why it should be important.

@@masterambush8644 Artifice armor is not cosmetic for PvP. High stat armor is equally as important for PvP as it is for PvE. I’d argue that it’s actually more important for PvP. As it stood before, Comp was an endgame activity with non farmable weapons so adding in something else like artifice armor was much needed. And I don’t get why “Destiny being a pve game” means PvP can’t have good loot

@FraDestiny I'm not saying that PvP shouldn't have good loot, I'm saying it isn't necessarily the priority. Imo, stats don't matter too much either. You can have triple hundreds but still be bad, and you can have no hundreds but still dominate. PvP is defined by your skill with your weapon and gamesense, not entirely by stats. GM's, though, require high stats because anything lower than tier 10 resil and any stray shot will one tap you.

@@masterambush8644 High resil is the only important stat in pve. While in pvp, fast ability regen is extremely important which involves discipline, strength, intellect, and your class stat. Abilities can sway gunfights in your favor even when you don’t have the best gun skill so I don’t know what you are talking about. As for all of this not being the “priority”, I somewhat agree. I want dedicated servers and more sweeping improvements to the sandbox before i want more loot but more loot is what drives more players to play PvP which is also what it needs right now.

I already have. Ive farmed grasp of avarice and duality a ton of times. It’s super boring though and I’d rather farm it through comp but it’s just way worse by comparison as of now

I’m waiting on a lot of dlcs for other games right now. Elden ring, remnant 2, valheim, etc.. But until then I’m stuck with this game

Didn't really get the point of them adding artifice armor into comp. Chances are, if you're playing comp at a somewhat high level (or even just enough to do the weekly challenge) you're very likely at a point in the game where you already have artifice armor from doing high-end pve. Adding artifice armor if anything is like adding a cherry on top, but it's no main course. Comp is already a really questionable playlist anyway; generally not worth your time investment. And adding artifice armor accomplished literally nothing.

I’m glad they added artifice to comp so there isn’t a paywall behind it anymore. And I’d disagree about high end players already having a bunch of artifice armor. A lot of PvP players don’t bother with farming dungeons. Plus you can always refine your stats even more.

It’s not a gamemode I played a lot before nor will it be one I play much longer if the drop rates don’t improve. I usually just wait and play trials each weekend and I’ll probably go back to doing that.

Streamers have ruined gaming. People who make vids are great. Streamers are trash. Streamers have allowed game companies to get lazy and not play test the product. They just release half baked products and wait until the streamers play. Streamers dictate what gets nerfed and dev ego is what gets things buffed ie I've worked so hard on this gun and nobody is using it waaaaaaa. Real change won't come until we all take a stand.

I really do hate destiny pvp players, y'all complains so much. Nothing is ever good enough for you. It's actually insane. You shouldn't even be able to get artifice armor. It should be locked to dungeons. 25+% is still a great odd of getting artifice armor considering it's ARTIFICE ARMOR! It is the best armor in the game and you're expecting it to just be handed out to you like candy on Halloween. You're complaining about RNG and how its so easy to get in PVE maybe because this is a PVE game.

It’s a PvE/PvP hybrid game in my opinion. And I’m advocating for the drop rates to be somewhat equivalent between both dungeons and comp. I’m not asking for handouts. I wanted to see a 100% chance of it dropping on wins only for ascendant players. That’s not that crazy of an ask. Plus it shouldn’t make a difference to you if PvP has a solid source of artifice.

Not only does the player first have to get the Armor, then hope the Armor comes with good stats. A Titan isnt going to care about a 68 chest with 20 Mobility .

I got a 59 stat roll on an arm and i was dumbfounded that they’d let it roll that low. From what I know it can be just as bad when you get it from dungeons as well
