I speak as an artist myself. The image being the most important matter in a painting, for me, must continue to grow and reveal hidden emotions or even create new ones.It ceases to be a painting, and becomes an open door to another dimension. WHEN IT DOES, THE EXPERIENCE IS ..........

It is tough to like at first notice. And the brush strokes, are not the brush strokes of a novice by any means. They were obviously done by an artist with a maturity to his work. Even though many would look at this and right away make a judgment of distaste, I would prefer to see it as a facet of the world we live in, becoming slaves to it. And yes, the puff of smoke? it does look like a rock, and it is funny. hahaha So a certain amount of Wit is a bonus with what seems to be a dour subject matter. Really loved what you had to say on this piece, I believe you captured it very well. Thank You!

Screw the critics. Talent is a relative and subjective term born out of perverse think-tanks. Expressing oneself IS Art. How you do that, you choose. Screw the critics.

If a painter or visual artist doesn’t “ruffle feathers” occasionally he or she is most likely mediocre. Same goes for writers, composers, filmmakers. Did I leave anyone out?

a banal statement painted by a master trying to emulate a novice. uhhh... okay. but it seems like a waste of time and effort to me.

Yeah, that's it..."a waste of time and effort." Well-considered opinions are in short supply, so thank you for that.
