Very interesting summary of railways in the region! The Battlefield Line is a joy to visit 🙂 Though, I was slightly surprised you didn't mentioned that Bardon Hill Quarry east of Coalville is still working, or that there's still some ongoing dialogue about reopening the Leicester-Burton line to passenger ;-) Maybe for another video!

Thank you for your comment. On the timeline it doesn't disappear, denoting continued use. But the Leicester to Burton line isn't critical to the history of the Ashby & Nuneaton. If you watch my Leicester & Swannington video, Bardon Hill quarry then is a critical feature and gets a mention toward the conclusion. The re-opening of the Ivanhoe (part 2) is difficult conjecture as it's is on and off all the time in recent months, no-one from DfT or local MPs are able to give a firm stance on its future. I try to cover the history of each line, how it came to be and what it's fate was rather than launch into political opinion, however, in my career I was been involved with the Croxley Rail Link which had its own TWAO and permission to go ahead, yet politics destroyed its future and led to its demise. So even if Ivanhoe 2 is approved, it may not be completed. We all watch for positive news. Thanks for watching.

Great to see you & your maps back!

Thanks Stephen. I'm continually doing them, the research doesn't stop, but finding stuff is hard and the maps are so intrinsic, it takes between 8 and 20 weeks to produce them. I'm already working on the next one!

I've been watching a lot of survival YT vids on building log cabins and living in the wilderness. Maybe we need to get that fire going after all.

Battlefield line, only ran to Bosworth originally, then a V small band of volunteers extended to Shenton

When did the heritage Bosworth close ?
@someone764810 ай бұрын
Not sure what you are asking, they ran to Bosworth only, for a long time, then opened to Shenton, but for many reasons (inc 1 krap neighbour) trains didn't stop at Bosworth for some years, it had definitely been used before the arson attack, I used to be a member, we never stopped there when I volunteered, back in maybe 1998, so it didn't really close they just stopped using it, (but is used again now) love cycling to Shenton from Cov, will be there for the gala on 3,4 Feb to hopefully see the partly new "Betton Grange" see you there ?@@MattDavis_BeechingsGhosts
