The little-known assassination attempts against Adolf Hitler, revealing a hidden side of the history of the Second World War. From 1921 to 1944, around thirty attacks, orchestrated by individuals from diverse backgrounds - workers, trade unionists, aristocrats, politicians, and even high-ranking soldiers - attempted to put an end to Hitler's tyranny. Each episode meticulously retraces these daring, often little-known attempts, drawing on testimonies, archival documents, and dramatic reconstructions.
The documentary explores the deeper motivations and circumstances of each attempt, highlighting the courage and desperation of those who stood up against a ruthless regime. However, despite their bravery, all these attempts failed, and most of these resistance fighters paid with their lives.
By interviewing historians and analyzing the consequences of these failures, the film questions the impact that the success of one of these attempts could have had on the course of history. “Shadows of Failure” is not only a tale of bravery and sacrifice; it is a profound reflection on the “what ifs” of history, questioning how individual action could have saved millions of lives and changed the destiny of Europe.

Except for the audio, video, and captions being out of sync, this was a very good documentary. I wouldn't say that Valkyrie was a "little known" assassination attempt, but the others are much less known about. This video did a very good job of explaining the different attempts to kill Adolf, who was involved, their motivations, and the actions they took. ¡Muy bien!

For sure, for sure. Georg Elser is from our small village named Königsbronn. There is a museum honouring him. His father was so ashamed of what he did, that he never was seen at daylight in the village. He walked around only at night. Lots of people around Georg Elser were imprisoned and our village was called „Attentatshausen“ that means „Assasination-Village“.

C'était pour nous faire rentrer l'UE au gaveur comme si on était des canards . So many reasons why each attempt failed. Perhaps von Stauffenberg should have stayed with the bomb preventing it from being moved. Should the planners behind the cognac bottles, have checked to see if the cold temperatures would prevent them from exploding? So many should have/could have/would have occurred. I think the true reason for the failures was that he that is evil itself was protecting this evil. May GOD bless those who tried and suffered for their attempts. The letter written by the general to his wife was so heartbreaking yet poignant at the same time.

Valkyrie was, in many ways, a complete leap of faith. There was no guarantee that the orders would have been followed without question or at all once it was started, by the Reserve Army which as it had been planned would implement the new orders to take over the government. It's possible that it could have worked, but it seems to me that there were a lot of moving pieces that the planners hadn't nailed down, like how the law enforcement police and other agencies would react. I could be wrong, but those are my thoughts.

Il est regrettable d’enseigner aux générations futures des informations historiques déformées. Il faut transmettre l’information historique telle qu’elle est sans lui donner de fausses interprétations qui changent la vérité dans l’esprit des gens.

One reason the attempts failed was because those who planted the bombs didn't wait around to make sure they went off. They left and crossed their fingers, thereby hoping to spare their own lives which they didn't anyway.

If mankind were ever to draw lessons from the rise and fall of Hitler, it includes never letting a dictator use hatred and lies to lead millions to death and destruction.
