Heart of the maiden is very vague...)But regardless I auto resonate with her, kind of involuntary. Oh, and because _Stellas really hot_ ...aha, fanservice can get to the best of us sometimes . I could just watch Digibro's analysis of it but that'll take forever to watch and forever to come out. Plus I tend to get irritated and bored when he spends so much time on one specific negative thing. Not to say he's wrong (Cause he's probably not), but it just disinterests me when its not about the core issues with the series.

I really liked Shin Sekai Yori :c I thought it was all around extremely well done, and compared to the other complete trainwrecks by A1 made almost none of the common mistakes. +whitedrawf I was hoping people would be talking about this show in the comments :) I also think it was a fantastic series, one of the few shows where I was truly suspenseful/unsure of what could happen next. However I'm thinking Digibro disliked it for its character design, which admittedly look really doll-like and almost creepily dainty and perfect, or something? I didn't mind it but I can see how someone else might think it's just ugly and weird and unpleasant to look at, and that's what I think Digibro didn't like about it. It IS really hard to like a show when its art style is just shit in your opinion.
@Shousaphine9 жыл бұрын
+Zren I wish I'd kept my notes on why I HATE Shin Sekai Yori *so super hard* per each episode, but here's a summary. The super "kawaii" large eye anime humans clash with the very cartoony and unrealistic animal creatures, which clash with the painting-like backgrounds. They just don't aesthetically fit together. The characters were so bland and personality-less that you could switch their names around and it wouldn't really make a difference. Whose name fits which personality? All of them. The music was unfitting. It tried to tell you which emotion to feel, but it contrasted to what I was seeing on screen. A sad scene happens, maybe the music was supposed to be sad? But it sounded "whimsical". At first the contrast had me laughing, but then I realised it's the same music for...everything. When kids, CHILDREN, died, it was hard for me to care. Again, because of their lack of personalities. "Which one was that again? Oh well, no big loss. It's not like s/he added anything anyone else can't do." Anything that could have been interesting in the plot was pretty watered down. Few and far-between. It was like you ordered coffee, and you get this glass of water. It's sort of coffee-tinted, and kinda smells like maybe someone put a drop of coffee in it, but it still tastes like water. They tease you with that smell of coffee, and that's all you get, coffee-tinted water throughout the entire thing. And of course stuff like time skips being annoying, nothing getting resolved, and no one to root for except maybe Squeakers or whatever the hell his name was. I AGREED with him, and maincharacter was like "He's wrong", so the anime decides "he's wrong". Incredibly black and white results, when really it should have been slathered in grey.
@-Gnarlemagne9 жыл бұрын
I see where you're coming from, but Shinsekai Yori was a very unique show and to me, some of these factors were actually *good* things to me. And they really seem like they could only be bad things, which may make this surprising, and normally I'd hate that - but to me, Shinsekai Yori was not an anime about the characters. It was one about the world they were part of - and at first, while watching it, I didn't really realize, but eventually it kind of set in. This world they're a part of is completely different from our world, but it's fascinating because of the way it's presented - at first, it seems like an idyllic society with no flaws, and they show us characters who are more of symbols of what life is like for them. But these characters, although not particularly distinctive, have an impact on this world by accident - not because they're special anime characters with unique charismatic traits, but because they accidentally come across dark truths that set everything in motion. The first part of the show becomes about exposing the world, and I love it because it's extremely dark and unsettling in a way that really makes me respect the author. The deaths of the characters, while they could have afforded to make it more emotional, just go to show how this flawed system affects the people without names and faces, the common folk, the bystanders, despite those people technically being the main characters. Of course, it's not all about that, and other world building takes place - like with the karma demon arc. All of that only serves to make the world even more intriguing though. Eventually, the story reached a climax where this system is put under pressure and made to collapse and be rebuilt, with the exposure of some of the ultimate evil by the humans, and the most memorable character in all this was not the main character Saki, but Kiroumaru, who sacrifices himself for the cause. I realized that the reason I kept coming back for more, the reason I pulled an all-nighter to binge-watch the second half of the series, had nothing to do with the characters, but it was because I wanted to see what became of that world - and at the end of the series, I was not disappointed at all. All around I think this anime is incredible and the style, the narrative, and the story are all uncharacteristically mature, and the writing advanced for anime, and I absolutely love it. In an abstract way, it's almost like reading about huge scale historical wars, like the world wars - It's not about individual people for the most part, though there are some - but it doesn't need to be because the way the world is fundamentally changed by all the goings on is absolutely fascinating. Or I could be overthinking it, but I found the worldbuilding to be pretty much unparalleled, and that made the show completely magical for me.
@Shousaphine9 жыл бұрын
Zren But part of the problem *was* that the world was kind of intriguing, and I wanted to know more, but they gave it in such short bursts that I stopped caring. I stopped wanting to know. I'd have shut it off around episode 5 if not for HOPING it would get better (and watching it at the request of someone else). I kinda figired that'd happen to Kiroumaru. "Oh, main character needs blah, so Leomon is going to bleh all for main character, and it's going to be tragic and whatever". Maybe I'm just too jaded. XD

Let's say you want to do a big-dumb-battle intro. Let's also say, for argument's sake, that it's a fight in a gladiatorial arena. Start with the crowd. Have bookies yelling the odds for both sides (immediately establishing who's the underdog and who's the favorite, giving us some idea of relative skill). Have the audience trade gossip about the fighters; this gives us some idea of WHY they're fighting, and also clues us in to the nature of the society (for example, if one of the fighters is raising money to buy a relative medicine, having someone express sympathy tells us something completely different about the setting than having them express contempt). Show us how they dress, what they eat while they watch the fight, and how they react (horror? excitement? arousal?). Even a single minute of buildup before the fight itself starts would make everything in the arena meaningful.

The whole randomly gay thing also seemed like shock tactics until they explained it way later, and the timeskips made the story feel so disjointed to me. Basically I had a hard time ever caring about any of the characters because they didn't really have much character, and before I could get to know them, there'd just be another time skip.

So, is A-1 Pictures like the LJN of Anime? I haven't watched enough anime to really say. However, I am unfortunately accquainted with LJN, that studio of lackluster adaptation shovelware that plagues early game consoles.
@matthewgladback89058 жыл бұрын
In a sense, they are. You can make basic assumptions about A-1 shows the same way you can LJN shovelware. LJN was just a publisher, but they almost never funded any original work. Ditto for A-1, though they do mainly light novel adaptations instead of licensed games. A-1 pictures uses whatever animators and directors they can scrounge up, much the same way LJN used whatever devs would actually take up the soulless task of shoveling out licensed games. Licensed games are all about timing; they're released concurrent with a popularity craze among the source material. It's the same way for adapted anime. For both A-1 and LJN, quality production was basically an afterthought. If A-1 actually made anything good, it was because they happened to hire a decent director for once. But who would actually want to work for them, since they pick up all the projects the better-known studios don't want or simply don't have time for? For licensed games, who would want to develop games on such a strict schedule? I'm really just paraphrasing Digibro here. He made a video about A-1 on one of his channels.

That whole "inverting the morality of the entire human race" thing is what gets me. Really, if such a global mind-altering catastrophe happened, the resulting world would, without a doubt, be a Mad Max-style free-for-all. The fact that a gleaming city still exists proves that nothing of the sort happened (humans are perfectly capable of making beautiful and rotten-to-the-core cities already; see Las Vegas). Let me tell you, "Invertia" just reeks of the writers pre-emptively covering their asses. "Oh no, the villains aren't poorly-written, one-dimensional caricatures that would be laughably ineffective in any real-world scenario. They're just... um... the morality of the entire world is just reversed. Yeah."

On a whim, I attempted the pose the chick does in the poster and...my god. I couldn't fully try it because my arm was too short to properly wrap around my head, and her hips twist at such a strange angle that there was no way I could properly replicate it. As soon as I puffed out my chest like she did my back began to hurt and I cracked up laughing because I knew I probably looked ridiculous. I kind of get the feeling that the poster was drawn by a bunch of dudes who don't entirely have a grasp on female anatomy (judging by the content of the anime, I'm fairly certain I'm far from incorrect). (Also, before people yell at me: no, I'm not a feminist. Just a chick who is really REALLY confused by this pose design).

While I don't agree that this series sucks - in fact I think its one of my favourites from the season, I have to say that your opinions and views are fair enough and point out stuff that I missed. I understand not everything is for everyone and seeing this from the views of someone who dislikes it, but who is also critical about it and not just hating on it for no reason, is refreshing. Your honest about how you feel about the series - which I quite like about you it seems like your impartial but offering a fair opinion. For that reason alone, you have earned my subscription. But going back to the first sentence in this comment - I don't agree with you that the series sucks (not that you don't have any valid points), that's the great thing about opinions - everyone has a different one. Good job on the video.

These little drawings were hilarious, very simple but effective. By the way, why do light novel adaptions suck so often? The only anime I like that are based on LNs would be Drrr!!, Baccano! and the Monogatari series. Have not seen Log Horizon and Spice and Wolf and there might be more good ones I missed but I get the feeling that in comparison to anime originals or manga adaptations they are a lot more generic and boring (I am looking at you, Sakurakos Investigation).

This Anime has absolutely no depth, the characters are pretty much shallow and you can easily predict what will happen next, the protagonist ayato is like any clichée harem protagonist and the harem candidates are all pretty much one-dimensional either tsundere or moe except Claudia, which is pure Fanservice. The Plot leaves no room for foreshadowing or mystery since pretty much everything is being straight up explained, we even see Ayato's sister die in the very first episode and even after a couple episodes you get the feeling that the end of the anime is going to be a complete cheese. I'm still at episode 6 from the first Season and I get the feeling that Claudia, which is the most mysterious woman in the whole plot, is an old childhood friend of sayato or/ and connected to his sister, because why would she suddenly hug him with a sad face saying she'd missed him before trying to cover it up with a "I'm joking". I'll finish watching this anime in the hopes that there is something interesting but so far everything is filled with cheese and makes me feel like a child watching some kidshow with fanservice for pedophiles and young teenagers.
@shiroranmori50094 жыл бұрын

@1krani9 жыл бұрын
Sumsore Musakheel Well, my rule of liking stuff is that you can like whatever the Hell you want as long as you're aware of its flaws. If this person had this many anime ruined for them because being made aware of their flaws stopped them from liking said anime, then they've been watching shows that they didn't actually like. They've been watching shows that they only _thought_ that they liked. They liked only what they saw on the surface, not the entire layered narrative or lack thereof. Me? I like dumb stuff. I like Big Trouble in Little China. I like Ninja Turtles 2: Secret of the Ooze. I like Bayformers 4. I like Call of Duty: Zombies. I'm fully aware of all of their faults so I'm under no delusions about what they really are. That's why no amount of criticism aimed at them will stop me from liking them. That's what it means to truly like something.

Then I realized that guy was holding what was supposed to be a sword and I vomited.
@yfnratchet6 жыл бұрын
In regards to the fight choreography: Their wrists should be fucking broken, the way they swing that shit around implies it's a longsword type of weapon, but they twist and slash with it like a goddamn broom. Neither of the characters carry the weight of their weapons (which is stupid to someone who hasn't even touched a sword), and the "sister" isn't even trying. None of it is even close. A turn-based rpg has better active fighting than this shit. Plus, if they're exhausted, shouldn't they show signs of wear and injury?

To be honest most vn to anime adaptations turn out atrocious. Clannad lost some of the most relatable character moments, ef lost the story of one of the main characters, fate route anime does not exist, little busters lost half the charm, and got WTF DID THEY DO TO MY GRSAIA. They turned my favorite VN, the vn I can easilly put on my top 10 favorite games of all time into an utter train wreck of an anime. Also for bonus points the blaze blue anime has fight scenes which look worse than watching a noob play the game for the first time.
@rxzero008 жыл бұрын
I'm mad at A1 Pictures because they went on a very cheap development route. They crammed in some of the important cases by cutting parts out of it; and some of those parts were very interesting in the games. I mean the relation between the second case and the very good fourth case was cut out. They also did not put enough budget/effort in the animation. They made the anime even more cheesy than the game to the point that it is not funny. The characters are not well design. They have generic voices. Maya became more of a generic character (well I can argue for Phoenix being made more generic as well but I rather cut to the chase). They even added UGLY CGI people which were atrocious. I rather have them sort of blur out the crowd like in the games instead of the horrendous CGI. The opening and ending songs suck as they are more generic stuff that does not suit the series. I rather that this anime was produce by Production I.G. since they handled the excellent anime cutscenes in Ace Attorney Dual Destinies and the upcoming game and also because Production I.G. is a way better company in general.
