She came onto the show, clowned Zuko, held her own against multiple powerful benders, BREACHED a city that's supposed to be impenetrable, clowned the Kyoshi warriors, took over Ba Sing Se and the secret police from the inside, BURNED Long Feng without even using firebending, nearly killed the Avatar AND ENDED the cycle and would have done it had Katara not had magic spirit water juice, outsmarted Team Avatar and held them off without her bending, and even when she was mentally unstable, managed to fight pretty even with Zuko until he tried baiting her to use her lightning. That's not even getting into the comics. Azula was BUILT DIFFERENT. A tragic story but absolute savage on the battlefield. "Don't flatter yourself. You were never even a player"

Back in Avatar TLA, there needed to be a full moon for Waterbenders to be strong enough to blood bend, which wasn’t present during this fight. Edit - As another commenter noted, Katara also hated bloodbending, feeling like it was a violation of nature. The only times she used it was against Hama [which she immediately broke down crying after doing so, even if it was to save Aang and Sokka], and against a guy she mistook for her mom’s murderer

Don't forget that Azula was 14 at the beginning and end of the Avatar the Last Air Bender series and a child's brain isn't fully developed and susceptible to manipulation and trauma. Not only that she's spoiled but like Richiedoesmc and you said because of her still being 14 and raised the way she was- the trauma and grooming from her Father of making her into a psychopath due to her potential, from what I know he spent time mostly with her out of the two of them and complimented her ability so she already felt like she was in a better position than Zuko, and due to how their Father was... I wouldn't be surprised if he said smth that directly influenced her to be like that to people that she/the fire nation perceives as "weak", such as Zuko being actually very compassionate, so as a result she always made comments and picked on him for not fitting the standard that her father raised her to have... It's also genuinely so crazy thinking about it because Azula was raised that all of the shit she did was justified or right cuz of her Father being negligent, manipulative and also a horrible person- knowing that he sat here and basically betrayed her after her friends already did and then gave her the position of FIRE LORD. A 14-15 YEAR OLD BEING THE SECOND IN COMMAND OF AN ENTIRE NATION.. That might just be a fan theory. The more realistic answer that most seemed to come to the conclusion to, is he gave her the title just so she can leave him alone. He knows the title of Fire Lord will become less important than what he was trying to become: the Phoenix King. He wanted to hog all the glory for himself to burn down the Earth Kingdom and basically just threw her a bone so she wouldn’t complain and make a fuss. I personally think that is more devastating considering that he truly only sees her as an asset to use and throw away as he pleases, rather than a daughter.

It really is incredible how quickly Azula asserted her will on her friends. Ty Lee says no, so she immediately ruins the circus she's enjoying to threaten her into coming with. They go to get Mei's brother back, and she forces her to go back on the deal just because she can. Would guess each patient will get levels based on their in-universe crazy as opposed to real life crazy. Like, if it’s something other people do in the same series without getting funny looks, it doesn’t count, if they get the side-eye immediately whether or not they see it (and it’s a break from initially-established character), that’s probably a level. And possibly either ‘restricting’ levels to an appropriate amount of highlights, or slamming the doors once they hit 5 to keep things equal.

Nope, the movie is still awful. Anyone who says "its not that bad" is either lying or selling something. The dialogue is 90% exposition and 10% repetition, the acting is stiffer than fuckin Frankenstein's monster, the martial-arts are adequate but shot very poorly, and the changes they made are just baffling.

Love or hate the movie isn't my issue. My issue was that when M. Night. Shamalamadingdong heard criticism against the movie his response was basically, "You're all wrong, I'm right, everyone is just dumber than me!" Cocky asshole wouldn't admit that he tried to take someone else work and "fix" it and it turned out poorly. And hey, everyone is entitled to liking and disliking what they want but for me that live action movie was booboo trash. The live action show seems to be doing better but I'm hesitant to be too excited. One Piece LA may be doing well but that's one example to dozens of other failed attempts.

In defense of Zuko, he DID redirect the lightening, he just just held it in his chest too long and didn’t redirect it properly. After he gets shot you can see the lightening exiting the thrown temple into the sky. If he didn’t redirect it, he would have absolutely died just like Aang did at the end if season 2.

Y'all should really see the comics because the reason she becomes not crazy anymore is because she realizes that her purpose wasn't to rule. That was Zuko's purpose. Her purpose is anarchy and turning Zuko into a Tyrant since, as she said, it's "in his blood" given that he is Ozai's son and her brother. So she becomes stronger and more cunning than ever all to provoke Zuko into tyranny.

While some would argue Katara wouldn’t use it at all because she hates the idea of the technique, she has used it twice in extreme situations (once to subdue the bloodbender who taught her the technique in the first place and second to subdue and torture a firebender she thought killed her mother and wanted revenge against) and if anyone would warrant having to be subdued using bloodbending, Azula definitely does, moral opposition be damned, since she’s just way to dangerous not to be willing to go all out on, so I would argue Katara would have used it if she were able to without a full moon.
