Great Video. I used a similar setup at home a few years ago. It was set up as a fan antenna with elements for 10,20, and 40 meters. On 40, the vertical was actually set up as an inverted L. 10 and 20 were both fully vertical. I had one radial per band elevated at about 10 feet off the ground. With a tuner, it worked nicely on 30,17,15, and 12 meters as well.

I use a similar setup with a 17ft telescoping whip and a pair of elevated radials for everything from 6-20m. Works great and I can put it up, be tuned, and transmitting in less than 10 minutes.

Another great thing with CW is how much noise a really narrow filter can remove.

Can you elaborate more on the use of a coax line isolator that flashed up on the screen? Love your vids. Cheers from suburban Chicago!

Those are high voltage lines so you wouldn’t want to go any higher through risk of arcing.

I've worked ZL and VK with that monoband upper and outer on more than one occasion, and that was SSB. There are a couple of videos on my channel about it. Maybe you've seen them?
@watersstanton Жыл бұрын
Yes ZL and VK pretty easy when path is open, particularly Spring and Autumn. In fact VK path open this morning.

Great video! Thank you so much for loading up this kind of information showing how simple things can be. May I ask what kind of coax insulator You would recommend. Is it possible just to run the RG 58 a few meters on the ground when working QRP portable out in the Woods or mountains to prevent common mode current?

Hi Peter, thanks for another good video covering a simple aerial. How long was your radial and vertical pole/element ?
@watersstanton Жыл бұрын
Around 16.5ft. Adjust fir best VSWR.

Thank you for another interesting video Peter. May I ask, what were you using as a line isolator? Very 73, Chris, G0VOE.

can also just add a hairpin match to raise the impedance

Yes, a bit more complicated but for those who want to experiment, great idea.

How do you grade slap in a meaningful way. I would say very little but others might say otherwise. Like describing shoe comfort!
