Today marks the 78th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima by the United States. I happened to be in the great Market Square at Krakow, Poland, this evening--the entire old town of Krakow has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Since the morning, a group of people had been gathered there, not in relation to the anniversary of the bombing, but waving flags marking Polish and Ukranian solidarity and calling for Russia to be declared a "terrorist state". There are, obviously, various forms of terrorism, though the proponents of Ukrainian-Polish solidarity (which has an uneasy history, to say the least) seemed to be oblivious to all that. A very short commentary, entirely impromptu.
