Researching the Sperry F3 used in the Buddy Holly Bonzana aircraft. It supposedly indicates pitch opposite direction of other attitude indicators so climbing appears as diving. Crazy!

Vertical axis Gyros are not affected by earth's rotation if the plane of rotation is aligned with earth's. But they are affected with transport wander

I mean... it *does*, that's why they build attitude indicators the way they do. Not only does the gyro have to compensate for the world turning, it also has to compensate for the fact that you're moving through the sky and the plane needs to stay level to the curved world below. This is, by the way, why a plane's nose doesn't need to dip to keep from flying off into space as so many flat earthers claim.

​@@jasonmack760A commercial jet flying at 550 MPH would necessarily have to nose down over three times the rate of a normal decent (3,350 FPM) to follow the supposed curvature of Earth. That's around 55 feet per second. This is such a significant dive it would be obviously felt by the passengers. Yet anyone having flown would attest to no such feeling.
