My personal favorite Xaela tribe is the Kha Tribe. Their cultural quirk is... a *cultural* quirk. The Kha seek out the culture and practices of other tribes and nations, then come back to their tribe and go "Hey! These people over there do this cool thing in their culture! Maybe we should too!" Then they adopt the practices they find the most advantageous or interesting, making them a kind of oddball melting pot of ideas from all over.

I used the randomizer to name my Xaela lad, which made him an Oroq. When I looked up the lore, I was initially disappointed to see all that was known about the Oroq was that they made reed sleds. Then I read some of the lore mentioned here and realized I’d really dodged a bullet. 😂

I like how you say the Buduga are normal when they're anything but, lol. They are male-only tribe and kidnap young men and boys from other tribes to increase their numbers, since they can't exactly birth new kids. They're the ones that tried to abduct Hien in the MSQ, to try and initiate him into their ranks, due to him being such a good fighter.

Personally, since heavensward talk about children between man and dragon, and the au ra came out in the same expac, i feel like the real truth is that they are truly children of dragons, but the in game lore purposefully gives a "scientific explanation" of their origins but thats just my head canon

Shadowbringers pretty much confirms they're not dragon-related though. They're one of the major races of Norvrandt in The First (Voeburt was mostly Dran/Au Ra), which would be impossible if they were part-dragon, since dragons only exist in The Source The first Au Ra were probably made by some Ancient as their familiars, given that (based on some bits of Elpis dialog), "humans with a few beastlike traits" seems to be a common familiar template in Amaurot

@@BroadwayRonMexicoong actually. The races of the sundered were formed possibly years after the sundering, the new races manifesting from wobbling confused misshapen zombie-like beings. This was confirmed in the Nier:Reincarnation x FFXIV crossover event, which retells parts of Emet's past, including the moment after the sundering took place. Also that part about Elpis is directly connected to Beast Tribes, not the man-races of Eorzea. Au Ra are Au Ra, but you could argue that they're Etheirys-native dragon-men. The concept art, timing of their arrival (HW), their lore comparisons to the alien dragon-species and their naming in The First "Drahen" is very indicative towards that.

​@@paledrake I wouldn't waste my time arguing it people are going to make the world and it's inhabitants the way they want to see them regardless of how anyone else wants to see it, we can't have dragon people purely because they have a few traits not found on "Pure Dragons" even if they share the traits of horns, scales, and a tail that resemble the style of a dragon, but we can have cat girls that have no shared qualities with a feline other than their eyes, ears, and tail that's fine because cat girls are popular and more people want them to be cat people instead whether lore supports it or not, so you should do the same, its a role playing game, if you want yours to be a dragon it's a dragon, you want yours to be a lizard it's a lizard, just enjoy the game, just a slight correction, they are "Drahn" in the first, not "Drahen"

My Au Ra is from the Ura tribe in the mountains north of the steppe who mine in the peaks and bring the ore down to trade for supplies so basically im a trained arms dealer from birth :D also i like to "joke" about how good the rocks taste

My first character was Xaela, and from the random name button got "Ura" for her last name... I, being a wow refugee, then proceded to make alts (like oh I'm playing Ujin with my friend, I'll make another character to play when she's offline ... and that alt became the main) who all had the last name. When I found out they were tribal names, I was kinda like okay, this is cool... I guess my WoL is adopted by this tribe rather than the Mol. -nods- that's my head cannon and I'm sticking to it
