Nice! Idk, for me, even Norquain money is difficult to justify. They have a deep history, but need some deep pockets and just don't seem special enough to drop five grand. I'd likely prefer a Breitling, tbh. AP? Just too much, for me. If I strike it rich some day? Maybe, but it's still a bit nuts, in my humble opinion. Again, something under five grand just seems to make much more sense. I was about to get another Longines, but even that, at $2300, feels like an overspend. Alpina has an in-house movement model, usually three grand, on sale around $800. That, to me, feels very worth it!

I'm seriously considering a live show behind this. I just had an hour long conversation about this topic on expensive watches versus affordable gems. I personally have my attention set on Glycine, Squale, Tissot, Citizen, Longines and Hamilton. I'm not trying to tackle anything over $3k at the moment.

@@Trapvision3D Love affordable gems. I'm still running my underrated Swiss brands on Insta, and certainly some of my most satisfying buys. I think around $1000 is a very joyous and mostly practical space for watches. It's enough to make one think, so it's not an impulse buy, but low enough to attain, even when it requires some saving up to manage it. It's the only good thing that came out of Invicta scorn, for me, not the ridiculous brand hate, but just the advice to stop buying around $200 to $300 pieces, and get something more like $800 to $1200. I'll forever be thankful I did so. I will eventually do a theme of watches in that price range. Definitely happy buys, for me, giving a sense of what an AP offers, but without the stress, lol. I mean, I'd worry to even wear a $23,000 watch! 😳

Hello Trap, in my opinion the AP has too many pointers, and 42 mm is too small for me. I now want to try something new and buy Swiss movements and cases separately and have them assembled by a very good watchmaker (for 50 euros). I save thousands of euros and they are all unique pieces. Best regards, Frank

I completely understand.

Cost of owning an AP will include hiring a bodyguard to avoid being mugged for it. Fortunately I just don't like the Royal Oak, and I would never spend that money on a watch. When I got a nice amount of money, I decided to retire four years early and it was the best decision I have made.

That beginning statement took me out 🤣🤣🤣

I've looked at AP from a distance and from the aesthetics, I wasn't extremely impressed. It's a nice watch, but there's an entire roster of watches at lower price points that show better!

What about getting a Christopher Ward watch?
@Trapvision3D3 ай бұрын
I'm all for that. Christopher Ward has a number of legit pieces!
