An old boy told me years ago, he was replacing king pin bushes, in a A35 van. He cut a slot in the bushes longwise, then soldered the outside of the bushes and knocked them back in. That reduced the diameter, of the bushes, he then reamed them to size.

I wonder, if one was to freeze a wet rag after rolling it into a diameter similar to that of the bushing; and heating the iron around it and then pushing the frozen rag into the bushing.... would it shrink the bushing enough to ease it out?

Sadly soon all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime.!!!

Donkeys years ago, a mate of mine sacrificed a grease gun by stuffing it with body filler and then squirting it into the grease nipples to try and bodge a sherpa through an mot... I seem to remember that being the utter fail you would expect.....

Best bodge I know of was a mate who used those blue dishcloths soaked in fibreglass resin to put on the inside of panels. Then he'd fold the edges over and crimp them a bit so they looked like weld...
