I recall hearing the magpies 'song; when growing up in Perth (WA). The magpies were a menace during the nesting season when they would aggressively swoop at everything in site. Scary as a kid.

When there's a fullmoon, the maggies think it's dawn or daylight. That lovely warble/ song isn't so appealing around 2 am. There are even competitions as to who performs the nicest. A considered little pause, and the next bird is off yawgling away.

I think that separating this bird from its dog friend at this stage is cruel. A baby bird needs to be fed and would die if left alone. Rescuing it was kindness.

We had one of those in WA state. He used to sit right outside the dog run. One day he got a bit too close to the fence. Abbie put her front feet through the chain link caught him by the neck, and decapitated him. She wasn't big on things invading her space. She was known as Miss Abigail Bugsy Malone, Queen of mice and snakes. I have her granddaughter here who's a bird and bunny hunter.she has several gulls, a couple of starlings, a couple of bunnies, squirrels, a Canada Goose, and an adult raccoon. 😊
