The Autumn Wind - Las Vegas Raiders

"The Autumn Wind" is a sports-themed poem adapted from Mary Jane Carr's "Pirate Wind" by former NFL Films President and co-founder Steve Sabol (son of founder Ed Sabol) describing the atmosphere of autumn weather, as it relates to pro football season. It is synonymous with the National Football League (NFL)'s Las Vegas Raiders, and is often heard blaring out of the speakers at Raider games. Narrated by John Facenda, this 1974 production has been dubbed "The Battle Hymn of the Raider Nation"."

The Raider that most illustrates, “The Autumn Wind,” in this video clip is #4 Darek Carr. You look at the scores on the bottom and the current Raider Defense is a Mockery to the Defensive Players of the Oakland Raiders of the ‘70’s. A Raider fan since Coach John Madden and Daryl Lamonica played against Hank Stram and Lenny Dawson. What Owner Mark Davis and Head Coach Josh McDaniels did to Darek Carr makes me no longer a Raider Fan. Mark Davis is so different than Al Davis! Al Davis paid for a Super Bowl Contender. He even paid for a great Offensive Line to protect Ken Stabler who was a Pocket Passer. How do I know? When Jim Plunkett came to the Raiders the first game I saw with my friend was a game against the Miami Dolphins where Plunkett threw 5 TD’s that game. My friend kept saying, “Look at Plunkett! Look at Plunkett!” This current team in Las Vegas is nothing like those guys! Look at the other videos, Darth Vader carrying a Shield with the word, “Defense” on it. Look at Ted Hendricks stripping the ball, or the tackles of Jack Tatum! Nothing like them now!

nice remake, except that it misses the biggest attraction to the original. It wasn't the zoomed out long pass/run plays, it was the zoomed in action, the hits, the knockevers, the ball strips. These zoomed out shots are so weak in comparison. That was the magic of NFL Films, seeing the up close action.
