Not really at all. The Avalanches have been sampling old funk and disco for 15+ years, going back to Since I Left You. They also do it in their DJ sets, well before Future Funk was a thing.

Holy crap! these guys are still alive? I've been out walking every day now, and my MP3 player has like... several thousand songs on it, and then Gimix came up, and I find myself switching back to it again and again. I can see why that one wasn't allowed to be the Since I left You album, as it has to much of actual songs to be considered "new" music, but that actually makes it better. (the bit with 'rolling stone' still gets me always) Been listening to these friggers for almost 15 years now, they NEVER get old.

seeing a bunch of people here call this song "too repetitive" is kinda mystifying me. because, you know, The Avalanches were NEVER repetitive, never mind "Radio", "Flight Tonight", "Tonight", heck even "Since I Left You" and "Electricity" to some extent (Radio especially is really dang repetitive, let's not kid ourselves. Doesn't make it a bad or even annoying song though, and Subways is a good minute or so shorter so I don't see the problem) personally this is probably my favorite single from the album so far, sounds fantastic and I can't stop listening to it lol
