You can only take advantage of motion glider on Mario Kart Stadium, Coconut Mall and Dolphin Shoals. You can save 3 seconds on those shortcuts. But if the glider is facing straight, you can only save about half a second. Eg: Sunshine Airport, Wario Stadium, Paris Promenade, Peach Gardens, LA Laps and Rome Avanti.

How to do motion glider is pretty simple. First turn on motion controls/tilt controls, then depending on the turn, fling your control stick and tilt your controller at the same direction.
