I wish they had more music like this. (I love and respect their other stuff! It's just that this, and colorshow, are soooooooo good!!!) Anyone have any recommendations for similar music to this & Colorshow?!?!

Ha! I hadn't noticed that before. Are those...ribbons? Did Seth walk into Ann Taylor Loft by mistake?

@toolchick71... That would be as in Merle Watson, not Haggard.

Well stated!!! I am currently studying for my master's degree in accounting, have a 147 IQ, do not drink or smoke pot and this band is all i listen to!!!

Really, why? Besides, doubt she'd let me record it, plus, they have about 90-100 other songs and counting--not sure this would be her first choice, but I could be wrong. At any rate, as I said, to each her own. Big or little band, indy or big label, selling out 500 or 50k shows, who cares? Listen to and go see who you want. I will listen to these guys and I am going to about 8-10 TAB shows between now and June. Enjoy whoever you go to see--I know I'll enjoy the TAB shows immensely.

How? have you not really listened to them--they sound like a bunch of frat guys got together
@anthonyzarfati35795 жыл бұрын
While I agree with you that this song really isn't good, looking back after 9 more years of there music, you have got to say that they have grown into amazing artist I mean come one man!
@ElPresidenteFerry15 жыл бұрын
their live shows take on a considerably "heavier" tone than their studio albums. I'm not sure how you label this as "punk-frathousing" music, either. Obviously you know nothing of punk or frathouses.

Sure, I've thought that about some bands, BUT I respect that that everyone has different tastes. For example, as I said before, this is my favorite band and I am decidedly not in the 18-24 crowd and I'm female. I think you'd be really surprised at the range of fans--my 2 1/2 year old niece and my 63 year old mom sing along to their songs. To each his/her own.

I think Rick Rubin said it best when he said the Avetts transcend their genres, meaning they limn their music using multiple influences and create something new. Nashville music execs said they were the newest thing they'd heard in 30 years. So, I think I'd listen to people who make their living at music. The Avetts are authentic. They're not perfect - a good thing.

Actually... it's Merlefest as in Merle Watson. It honors the memory of the son of the late, great flat picker Doc Watson from the mountains of NC. Good people. I miss them both. Haggard is cool too though.

its so weird to see that most of these songs are from 10 years ago!

It wasn't your critiques that I responded to, it was your insinuation that I must be an idiot for liking this band. I don't really care if you like them or not. I'll be no better or worse off. Being passionate about YOUR preferred style of music doesn't mean that you have to be intolerant to other kinds. I hate country, but I'm not watching Kenny Chesney vids to make sure.
@Jeeptruck8615 жыл бұрын
I don't think anyone would require you to like this music or even listen to it, but your insults towards people that do are just pointless. The Avett Brothers are talented musicians and brilliant songwriters. Their shows are energetic and crazy, their albums professional and polished. I'd hope that you'd take a longer listen and give them a fair shake, but I fear that you'd only be looking for more ways to mock them. Thanks for your input on this video, I'm sure you've swayed many people...

I miss old avette. Not knocking their new stuff they just kinda lost their unique sound that attracted me when i first heard November Blue. But thats what bands do grow and change

How about this? I'm not a stoner. I'm 20 years old, and I've actually NEVER smoked marijuana or anything other than cigarettes. The Avett Brothers are one of my biggest influences and BY FAR my favorite band. I'll agree that it is childish to argue whether or not a band is good. But, grow up and stop posting shit, telling people that a good band sucks. I'm sorry you can't see the talent, love, dedication, heartache, and raw power + emotion in these songs. Hopefully you find that elsewhere.
@JenDCPDX15 жыл бұрын
hi--of course, music is subjective. if you don't like them, that's your choice, no worries. I do wonder if you've listened to anything else by them b/c this isn't the only style of song they play, but whatever. My reply was actually directed to volmom. it's one thing to say you don't like the band--everyone has different tastes. It's another to make a judgement about their fans, particularly when has no basis in reality--some of us may be stoners, but many of us are not.

But don't you ever wonder ,when you hear a group you think how the hell does anyone like that-i have heard about 4 or 5 songs by them and thats what i thought--they seem to have a following of 18-24 crowd so i guess its just what is the flavour of the week
