Actually I think it's ultra lame to put into a supercar functions that any cheap smartphone can do, like this console Hamster was so jolly about. A supercar should be like Ferrari F40; built just for track times and only. Nothing that doesn't serve the sole purpose should be onboard. But the quickest time recorded so far is actually 2.2sec from 0-60mph, which makes it the fastest accelerating production car in the world besides it's record Nurburgring time. And for anyone who hasn't seen it, watch the first episode of The Grand Tour in which they continue the story with this "Holy Trinity" of cars. The 918, P1, and LaFerrari truly ushered in a new era for supercars; the hypercars.

Hammond was absolutely right in saying that the 918 was an insight into what the future of the supercar was going to look like. Everything is going all-wheel-drive now and there are a whole stack of hybrid supercars. Ferrari's SF90 Stradale will be AWD Hybrid, and Lamborghini have said that the Aventador's replacement will be the same. At the ultra-high-end, Aston Martin have the upcoming Valkyrie which will be F1-style RWD but will be hybrid, and AMG have the One which is AWD with a Formula 1 Hybrid powertrain. Porsche predicted the future of the hypercar.

even f you win the lottery you wouldn't be able to afford that car. a set of tyres are costing 20000 euros, and a normal inspection will be too at 20000 euro because they have to remove the exhausts, and the next thing is, if you want to have climate function renewed,, there is a chance of breaking the windshield, which is handmade and extremely expensive, too. and i dont even want to start talking about the carbon-ceramic brakes.

The Porsche 918 for me: Quicker launch, a launch as fast as the Veyron, Koeniggsegg One. 200 more torque than the P1 giving a faster launch from a corner. Top Speed of 345km/h, but cars can go faster than their top speeds. Elegance Luxury Alot more practical and futuristic but simple than the P1 and LaFerrari Can go close to 20 kms just on electric mode, nearly 3 times more than the P1 More eco-friendly than some Holden or Honda electric car that was named in this video. Most practical, best looking car. Sounds like music. Technologically advanced. Also capable to be used in your everyday lives. Sadly, the 918 and the other 2 hypercars are illegal here in Australia. Rating:10/10, 90/90, 100%

In the Holy Trinity of Hypercars (918, P1, LaFerrari) I used to have the P1 as my favourite by a bit from the LaFerrari never paying attention to the 918 when the 3 were released but while growing up I realized Porsche just did it better than McLaren and Ferrari overall and I ended up having this german engineering masterpiece as my favourite in this trio

It’s now 2022, the 918, P1 and LaFerrari are all 9 year old cars. And they all still look like they were just designed. Porsche, Mclaren and Ferrari really knocked it out of the park with those cars, simply timeless

Great presentation as usual by Top Gear. So the 918 is also a fire spitter like the P1. I have to say that after watching quite a few videos of the 918, P1 and LaFerrari, I have come to the conclusion that the 918 is the pinnacle of automotive engineering. Leave it to the perfectionist Germans to pull it off. Come to think of it, how can a LaFerrari or a P1 lap a faster time than a 918 when both those cars are only two wheel drive and have only two wheel steering while the 918 has 4 wheel drive AND 4 wheel steering. No wonder it has much more grip and is more tame and refined around a track than the other two. However, unless one is out to win a race, I would rather opt for a seat-of-your-pants driving experience like the LaFerrar and P1 offer. The only color this car looks good in is silver. It really brings out the design.

***** While no one really knows which one is faster around the 'Ring, you have to remember the 918 weights a great deal more than the other two, due to its dual electric motors and heavier battery. Also, reviewers have said the McLaren feels faster, which it also is once they are off the line. It has more hp, lower weight, and twin turbo helps a lot. I saw a comparison of the 918 and P1 where they raced at Laguna Seca, and the 918 was a bit faster around the track. I think that is because it is a technical track which is short and has many tight turns. That means the 918's 4 wheel steer and drive helps it a lot out of corners. But the P1has better downforce for high speed circuits and maintaing great speed around fast corners, so it really depends on the track and weather conditions. People generally forget how "track performance" varies greatly depending on the track type itself. A car which is heaps faster on one track, can easily be slower on another one :)
