Rlc is better than supers
@PlatinumNath21 күн бұрын
@@hotwheelcollector16 Better than Supers and Premium, but that's just it. It doesn't offer a lot more while costing a LOT more. A decent Hotwheels customizer can custom-build a much better and sharper piece out of a standard HW cast. And we're just talking within Mattel here. RLC HWs costs 3-4x more than a nice looking, well made, good quality entry premium brand diecast nowadays like MiniGT or Tarmac's Global64. TLDR; RLC still not worth it no matter how much you compare it
@hashbrown_872322 күн бұрын
Just buy the more premium quality diecast cars (MINI GT, kaido house, tarmac works, inno64 etc.), Although thery're like 15-20 bucks a car, they offer way more detail than you're basic hot wheels premium. Some even have removable parts or opening hoods in kaido house or any other premium brand that has it. Also, there is no sense of urgency to buy them as they aren't that popular as hot wheels cars. They're mainly made for display, not for reselling, so technically much better satisfaction value in my opinion.
@yongling982522 күн бұрын
Oh man, you're pretty wrong about that. Over here in Malaysia, they're already becoming similar to Hot Wheels' situation. It's no longer easy to find what you want (especially if it's a hot model) at even RRP or close to it. I've seen a Mini GT Ford GT (MGT00249) scalped for about $26.83 (I forgot its RRP, but $13.41 still doesn't sound so pathetic).
@Tom_Hadler22 күн бұрын
I collect 1-43 scale and the prices can be high but they are proper models with high quality & accuracy, and usually now resin so excellent paint and no diecast rash. The price you pay is more but the quality and detail is way better than these hotwheels toys. They come with display case so you don't have to destroy the card packaging. Even when the models are rare and desirable the extra over retail will be maybe double, triple at most. Hotwheels have no real intrinsic value, it's all speculative. One day the bottom could fall out and they become almost worthless. Some people seem to collect 'hotwheels", rather than "model cars" but if they really liked cars they'd surely buy miniGT etc as you mention. They do loads of cool JDM stuff for cheaper than hotwheels after they're resold.
@PlatinumNath21 күн бұрын
@@yongling9825 that's a specific condition in your country that'd mostly be scalper and importer fault. In other countries, what the OP say still applies - entry premium 1/64s are much more worth it and cheaper in the market.

Perfectly describes my sentiments towards Hot Wheels RLCs which is why I stopped buying into their bullsh*t 💀 Instead of fixing the website's glitches, they beg collectors $100 for the "RLC overdrive" so that they can guarantee you a slot for the RLC If 1,000 bozos buy this Overdrive, that would make Hot Wheels an additional $100,000 already. A gated buying experience like this is tailor-made for Mattel to take orders within a time period, then make that quantity +10%. It should be impossible for a preorder to be sold out. To be honest, I'd rather have cars that look like cars in the real world than cars that look like Christmas tree ornaments; spectraflame paint is much too gaudy and shiny.

Batches, no. It's bad enough with Overdrive, and no numbering on these cars, so the whole program is devalued. Outside of JDM Skylines, it used to be easy to buy. With that said, I never recommend buying on your phone. Between glitches, and captcha, I can't imagine trying to do a timed, rush buy on something like this on my phone. Always do this on a Chrome browser (ideally) on a laptop (Mac or PC). When I started doing that, I had ZERO issues (other than my stupidity with Captcha) ordering cars. Also, with this latest 959 order, they upgraded/resolved several server issues so there shouldn't be load spiking that crashes the site. LOVE LOVE LOVE your video, can relate to every part.

That said I’ve got some awesome ones for that amount. Mattel doesn’t allocate enough resources for peak usage timeframes (when a new model drops), thus their site is like trying to navigate the internet circa dialup in the 90’s and your mom just picked up the phone to make a call

Prices are already dropping but yeah, not worth it. I got lucky to get one but I only did because my main focus is the Supra series but you can get, for much of a cheaper price, a bunch of other, better versions, if you want it. I would recommend looking at the A80 Supra from Mini GT, Hobby Japan, Autoworld and LCD Models. Honestly, even the Majorette one is more worth it.
@PlatinumNath21 күн бұрын
And this is why, any Hotwheels collectors that insist HW Premiums and RLC are the best/better premium choice not because of sentimental reasons or being a fan of Mattel or choice of cars that other brands dont have yet, without ever looking at other choices first... I tell them, just look elsewhere man, this ain't it. If you want a nice and detailed premium model for the same price that Premium HWs and RLC charges, Hotwheels isn't the answer unless you're in it for the sentimental and fanning over reason. For the price a RLC Supra Mk4 charges, you can get for way less a period correct stock Supra Mk4 casting with decently accurate scaling and detail, and also has good engine bay, from Autoworld. And if you want a true tuner-like one, just look over to MiniGT or Tarmac Works. And these are just entry premium brands I'm mentioning here, not including the big money top dog ones.
@neyok319821 күн бұрын
Unfortunately, where I’m from, stores don’t restock shelves with new stuff often and most of them can be months or even a year behind on hot wheels. Stuff like auto world and tarmac works barely has good stuff on the shelf. Personally I’ll never pay what scalpers and rlc charge. But I know there’s people in the same situation that would shell out the same money for even a hot wheels they missed in store.

Honestly I never pay reselling prices but thats because I trade a lot. Also it helps that on the loose collector. There are some truth to what you're saying before though, I collect hot wheels because of the vast variations of casting and colors. No one else is making typhoons or 454 trucks or even all types of 911's Or else I would have gone inno64. But don't be fooled by high quality premium model companies. Hobby Japan has been known to have many issues and those go for it $30 a pop. Inno64 on occasion has also had issues. And don't get me started on tarmac works. No matter what you collect make sure you're enjoy it 😎🤟. I understand hot wheels aren't a high quality premium brand. But I enjoy the variations and the quality and the paint. Especially if I can find them at the initial cost of what they are worth in store.

So I went on reddit and RLC isn't enough... you have to join RLC overdrive club for $99 (per year?) to be able to automatically be able to buy every RLC release. The Supra waa sold out "pre-release" because it was desirable and nearly everyone who could, bought it in advance. Some bought to own, some to resell. If it was a "2 per customer" limit, who wouldn't buy 2 and resell one to cover the costs of membership and subsidise the cost of the model they're keeping?

IMO, your just paying for the brand Hot Wheels RLC. At that price point or "scalpers price" you can opt to other brands such as MiniGt, Tomica, Jada or whatever in cheaper price, for better quality and acurate details apart in scale but HW will always be the no.1 in popularity and of course it's a well known brand in diecast. Sadly they don't pay attention that much in second hand markets, once a toy for a child now adults are just making profits ruining the hobby and joy of it. BUMMER!
