You shouldn't be because Mexicans are VERY RACISTS to the Indigenous people of Mexico. I have seen how they treat the Indigenous people in Oaxaca, Chihuahua, Chiapas, Vera Cruz. Mexicans are a people mixed with Spaniard (The COLONIZERS). The racism of a Mexican was seen live and in color when the Indigenous Actress of Oaxaca was up for an Academy Award for the movie ROMA - Yalitza Aparacio. Many long time Actors and Actresses were up in arms because they felt that she was not a good representative from Mexico because of her skin color and her Indigenous heritage. The DISCRIMINATION RUNS DEEP FROM SOUTH OF THE BORDER, TO THE US and NORTH IF THE BORDER- FIRST NATIONS PEOPLE.

A few years ago many tribes got together and did a long run from USA to Mexico City at the Sun pyramid. It was a run for water and they brought water from the states and traded. Dances, offerings , and ceremonies were done between tribes. Also tribes from South America brought their water to share and celebrate life.

What do natives in US really think of natives from MX?
@Nativedailynetwork Жыл бұрын
The general consensus is that the border is a colonial construct and we are all relatives on an equal footing, same with our relatives to the north in Canada. A lot of our people believe that the borders shouldn't apply to indigenous people as we would have used those routes for many millenia before europeans arrived.
@hailoweenhailoween5264 Жыл бұрын
Most Natives in the United States for the most part only acknowledge the Mestizo Mexicans, the Mexicans that are mixed of European, African, Asian, Jewish, Arab, Indigenous etc. They seem to forget or don't really care to research of actual REAL Native American tribes in Mexico/Latin America. Most of the Mestizo Mexicans don't really identify with the Indigenous heritage. Instead they're in an extreme allegiance with the European culture. What's more bizarre is that Native Americans in the United States really believe Mestizo Mexicans and Native Americans are one people in unity. I've personally seen U.S. Native Americans desperately trying to establish a Mexican/Native alliance but the Mexicans don't put any effort into breaking bread with Natives. At least that's what I've seen. Even when it comes to identifying with being Native, U.S. Natives always love to say "Mexicans are Natives too" or "Natives and Mexicans are one people". On the other hand with the Mexicans, I heard quite a few of them say "Yeah I may have some Indigenous heritage but I'm also mixed of Spaniard so I can't say I'm Indigenous" While at the same time most of the Mexicans I've seen always seemed to have hung around white or asian people, it was rare for them to have Indigenous friends. Even at their business establishments, Mexicans only hired whites and with Native establishments especially with the casinos, a lot of the employees there were Mexican. I've seen all this before.
@hailoweenhailoween5264 Жыл бұрын
I also forgot to mention, there were no Mexicans at standing rock during the anti pipeline movement. Nor did I hear any Mexican media or Mexican social media podcasts mention anything about standing rock. Here there were Maori and Mayan delegates that travel far from their homes to show solidarity with Natives at standing rock. Here U.S. Natives don't put that much effort into having close relations/alliances with the Maori or Mayan. At least not the way they put all their effort and might with the Mexicans. I love Native Americans but no offense most of them are just incapable of connecting the dots when it comes to the Mexicans. It's just obvious majority of Mexicans want nothing to do with Natives.
