@@sandrabrown2757 It's the truth, which is what bothers you. I sat through the whole thing. Plus, unfortunately for you, I have an annuity pension which is already a very sizable part of my retirement.

So you did, of course, properly pin this movie as an advertisement for annuities. But you do have annuities as a major part of your retirement. My question is, do you think, to those of us close to retirement, there is any value in seeing the movie? I have a good portion of my money in real estate and rental income...that is my main plan for retirement. But I do have a 401k as well and recognize there is value in low cost fixed income annuities, so I'm curious as to your take. Should I bother with seeing it?

@@MrCharlesEldredge It really is 90 minutes of telling you that you should look into annuities. Which is fine, but best to just spend those 90 minutes researching them or talking to a financial advisor about them.

I've had a financial advisor from the time I got a full-time job. Risks and options have all been explained and I ultimately have made the final decisions on what to do with my contributions. I know many, many people that don't even know what kinds of accounts their hard-earned money are in. If you aren't willing to do the research on your own then you can't complain when the market changes. I read Money and Kiplinger's for years just to educate myself. Did it work out? Pretty much. I won't be rich in retirement, but I'll be able to live comfortably.

I've been in the tech space majority of my career. I had two financial advisors at two different times that I fired. I asked simple questions that I knew the answers to but they weren't able to answer. I've been managing my own portfolio. Took awhile to recover from the 2008 market crisis. Since then I found other savings strategies that will allow me to grow my money tax-free, risk-free and have guaranteed retirement income. I will also have medical bill coverage (#1 reason why people deplete their savings. Even file for bankruptcy)
