@pitied37443 ай бұрын
They would if they wernt going for more intimidation and policing. Plus walkers can go over most obstacles versus wheeled or tracked vehicles. But the advantage of Juggs over a ATAT is speed and modularity
@hfar_in_the_sky3 ай бұрын
@@pitied3744 Fun fact though, modern day researchers have found that wheeled vehicles tend to be better at all terrain than “walking” vehicles. In particular rough and irregular terrain, wheels and tracks have always performed better than “legs” because legged vehicles and robots tend to slip and lose their footing while wheeled vehicles always provide a significantly more stable base. So in truth the Juggernaut would actually unironically serve as a better all terrain armored transport than the actual AT-AT.

0:32 How come we don't see more CRAM/CIWS style weapons in Star Wars? That single turret took out most of the missiles, which is really impressive considering how many of them there were and how little time it had to react.
@rafaelnishizumi63303 ай бұрын
Probably because of shielding being common thing so they'll tank it with the shield. And beside a few rare cases, (Cat and Mouse, Destruction of the Malevolence come to mind) we don't see munitions be used. Also note that Cat and Mouse, they just tank the missile with the thermal shielding.

@@rafaelnishizumi6330 What about proton torpedoes? We see a bunch of proton torpedoes fired from Y-wings disable an ISD during the Battle of Scarif, wouldn't a CIWS-style weapon designed for use on capital ships take down some or all of them (potentially saving the ship)?
@rafaelnishizumi63303 ай бұрын
@@purplfedora800 Those were Ion Torpedos ment for disabling, not Proton Torpedo. Plus with what the Remnants of Blue Squadron did prior to the Tie Counterattack and y-wing run, they must had severely damaged the Shielding. However, it wasn't just 1 or 2 Ion Torpedos, it was quite abit that was required to bust the shield then disabling the ISD. 1) its got tinny weapons, as shown in hoth the AT-AT is basically invulernable even in the leg joints to weapons of that size. 2) as shown here the juggernaut is extremely vulnerable in the wheels (unlike the AT-AT with its legs, once again shown in hoth) 3) its big, meaning it needs a really be transport, and a massive supply chain. which rebels don't have in spades.

@rickyk45833 ай бұрын
The writing answer is that they weren't conceived in the 80s and walkers were a lot easier to do stop-motion animation on back then (I think that's how they did it in ESB). The in-universe answer is probably that they were too expensive to mass-produce compared to walkers for large military campaigns due to the Tarkin doctrine. So they were used primarily for prisoner transport like in Rogue One. Usually, they would be hard to penetrate, the only reason the BB succeeded was because they were ex-special forces who also happened to study every vehicle in the Imperial lineup (Tech).
