To me, Michael Collins is a hero. He was shot down by his own erstwhile colleagues. I don't believe that Éamon de Valera had anything to do with the assassination, but it was his side that did it. How he squared that later, when he became president, I have no idea. Collins is an open book; De Valera remains a cryptic figure.

Talk about history in this song! I've seen many deeds of land awarded to those who fought against the Fenian Raids. As a little girl, I recall an Orange Day Parade.
