Even if this has bad sound quality you can still feel the emotions. That's how good these guys were at what they did.

Tom - I was lucky enough to be right next to the stage at Watkins Glen in 1973 + hear what amounted to 2 full live performances by the Band - the soundcheck on Friday and then the concert Saturday - IMO they blew away the Dead and the Allman Brothers that weekend.

It makes me wonder, if Mr. Manuel had lived, whether The Band might have put an album out in about '88 or '89, and what might have been on it…

Former Band Manager Joe Forno’s book paints a darker picture. Incredibly sad, because he’s my all time favorite male vocalist. But the end of his life was bleak and tormented. Back on booze and drugs, with a fragile marriage and poor self esteem. He deserved so much better.
