It's been a while since I played this video, though it is saved to one of my list. And what a pleasure it is to become reacquainted with it.

kjsf569 You should hear it when its sang by Irishmen....shamrock and few tunes dont make you an Irishman. This lot are mostly English..like all the so called Irish regiments in the British army.

It's actually a Scottish Ballad..but most folks think it's Irish..In fact lots of Scottish Traditional ballads & tunes are classed as Irish when in fact they originated in Scotland.

That's a fantastic version! Well done to all the performers. I sing with the St' George's Singers and we were part of the massed choir at the St. Patrick's day concert at the Waterfront Hall 2008. We had a choir of almost 100 and three pipers - a fantastic experience.

Karen Walker I know this is late but! Search for the Regimental Band of the Royal Irish Regiment in Kinnegar, Belfast and email them. They were always very helpful with requests in my time. They should still have the score in their library. I was on that stage too, best band in the British Army.

@@oisinclarke3856 Hi Oisin, there was until 2008 but since then they are all Reservists. Around this time there was a lot of Military Bands in the British Army that were restructured or disbanded. I hope this answers your question, if not then feel free to ask again 😊 Happy Christmas

Quite correct, as standard there were several Ard Ri. However the Kings of Tara were conisdered the most legit. Ceremonially, if he did live to rule long enough, he probably would have done something at Tara. If the Druids had been around during his time.

@GaraGambini Seriously thats not what he said. Daniel O'Connell said of him "Just because your born in a stable doesn't make you a horse" He was trying to deny Wellington his Irishness at a public meeting. Wellington never said it. Wellington hadn't a problem with his Irishness. He was an M.P. too for Ireland..

@jim2t6 You should be telling people what they are and what they aren't. Its up to the people to decide their nationality. After all Canadians live in North America but they don't call themselves American. As the Duke of Wellington said on being called Irish: 'if a dog is born in a stable does that mean it is a horse?
