Hmm, I can see some Jagger but back then it would be more Cameo and MJ than the Stones/Jagger. They had some great club songs in that early-mid 80s but you hit on who they patterned themselves after: Rick, Prince, (but add) MJ, and Cameo.

@@paulwidit3792 Yeah, back in the 70's and 80's we wore what we saw. Last year me and my 21 year old cousin were having signifying sessions and l was riding him hard about how he and his saggin' friends looked suspect with almost all their drawers showing and skinny jeans etc. Whelp, he went inside and dug up some old photo albums of me and his Uncle's at some parties in the 80's. All l could do was say things were different back then and treated him to some Uncle Remus chicken and change the subject every time he brought up me in those tight pants and orange platform shoes with the horseshoe taps.........looking suspect as hell.

the casual fashion was cool- you know the preppie look or slim fit tee's with slim lee or wranglers combined with sneakers / Jheri Curls and George Benson hair, meanwhile when it comes to stage costumes and flamboyant styles, uh there the femininity goes. a decade of lesbian males... it also used to be wild in the 70's , however with less make-up. in the 80's, suddenly everything went too glam, thanks to Prince, Rick James and Bar-Kays lol

The Bar-Kays were notoriously known for borrowing the hottest melodies of the moment, as this is a rip from Prince 'Erotic City'...the list goes on & on with this group, but they managed to get away with it for years! Still one of my fave funk groups!!
@riquespeakshop13958 жыл бұрын
In a crazy kind of way, they're the best examples of funk styles of any given time because of that too, their copying, lol. You get their record and know what was hot at the time!

The New Funk Movement WRONG. People copied the Bar-Kays. The Bar-Kays were the originators way b4 Prince discovered the Funk. The Bar-Kays were getting funky when Prince was only getting funky in his nappys!
