As a horse girly myself, I am horrified and disgusted by that horse being forced into the bar. That was actual animal abuse and people minimize it way too much. Horses get hurt and brutalized too. I like to imagine that the couple was in denial about their drinking problem, but the chaos of the night honestly made them realize just how bad it was. Like "Oh a horse came in, and shit in my bar, and I met a reality tv star, and I don't remember any of that," I think it was just providence that made them realize "Yeah he's right I have a drinking problem" because I'm sure the daughter had been saying this for a long time and I bet they just brushed it off like "Honey, it's a bar it's a part of the atmosphere, everybody havin' a good time," but realizing they got so black out drunk they were on television black out drunk after a horse shit in their bar without them noticing or cleaning it up. Probably put it into perspective for them

Yeah, the “killer in the backseat” urban legend is a very classic one for very understandable reasons. I do find it odd, though, how I never really see anyone describe the version I first heard. The one I heard of first was the woman stopping at a gas station and the attendant (back when you didn’t pump your own gas, though there are places still like that) tells her there’s an issue with her card and that she has to come inside to sort it out. Once she’s out of the car and following him, he tells he he noticed a guy hiding under her backseats and wielding a knife. In some telling she believes him and is saved but in other telling she doesn’t. But ever since I first heard that story, every single other time I’ve heard the legend told it’s been the version with another driver flashing his high beams to keep the killer hiding. Urban legends usually have several variations and tend to have one or two that are more popular/well known than others, so that’s not weird, but it is kinda interesting that I only heard that version the very first time and never again.

I live in AZ, and have been to this bar a couple of times. They really lean into the Bar Rescue thing. When you walk in there is a cardboard cutout of John. The menu has a story of the horse. They state on the menu the horse part was not staged, but it wasn't discouraged either. I had the BBQ chicken when I was there. It was some of the worst chicken I have ever had in my life. I was last there in 2019, and it was really looking run down.

2:03 You probably won't see this but to validate your fear my aunt nearly got abducted in B.C., Canada by a guy hiding in her backseat. She went inside to pay for gas with money and the dude slipped in the back seat and hid in the footwell. The only reason she saw him was that she needed to check the center console for some change to break a bill and spotted him while facing through the gap in the front seat. If she hadn't only had a big bill the cashier couldn't break then she would have just hopped right in the drivers seat after paying, reversed without even thinking to look down at the footwell, and driven right off to be abducted.

Interestingly enough, it seems like Aleah has taken over the place and turned into something that is not only not a shitshow, but actually a pretty decent venue. So good on her.

I just discovered your channel a few days ago and I'm so glad I did. I love your energy, your no nonsense way of doing/saying things that it makes perfect sense and yet is completely nonsensical at the same time lol It's really hard to put into words, but I bet you make life interesting lol

I always check my backseat to make sure no one’s hiding there, and I STILL sometimes get paranoid that I’ll check the rear view and suddenly see a killer in my backseat. 😅

Nah, I feel ya on the "imaginary killer in the backseat while I'm driving" thing. I've looked over my shoulder to the backseat many times, paranoid someone snuck into my car and is waiting to jump me. There's never been a serial killer in the back of my car, but sometimes, when I'm driving in the dark, I convince myself someone's about to stab me from behind the driver's seat.

Shocked no one mentioned this. Scott Chilleen is no longer involved in the bar. He relapsed, and his marriage ended. Currently, he's now serving 30 years sentence for vehicular homicide due to driving under the influence. Their daughter runs the bar now.

Yeeeesh. Apparently, from what I read, he was drunk driving and the passenger was ejected from the vehicle, he didn't try to help her and fled the scene lying to officers that he wasn't the driver, all adding to the charges for the 30 years. I think Gabi Belle mentions it in her Bar Rescue video recently (which Andy is briefly in).

18:44 as someone whos mom owned 2 stores of a (not at all popular) bbq franchise, i can tell u more facts about that! Firstly, yes that is true, but you can also use these pellets and it works just as well! But they need different times in the smoker. If you have one of those rotating smokers it acts much more efficient. Bonus on how Brisket (beef) is prepared! Brisket has the fat cut off (it takes off a big proportion and as something that is by the pound, u loss a bit of money from that) after you put mustard and seasoning, you’ll rub it all around. It cooks overnight and comes out amazing, especially the brisket ends!

During a follow-up episode to this Jon discovered the mother was still sober and now running the bar with the daughter, but he never mentioned the fact the dad was gone. I did a little sleuthing and discovered dad fell off the wagon in a hard way and ended up killing his girlfriend in a drunk driving accident.
