When you die you swoon...then after a time you will be awakened by...bright light and crashing thunderous sound and all of your fears....at that moment you will either embrace the light and all of your fears or you will swoon in fear again....for 49 days for hard cases...embrace the Light...or be reborn to try again...that is the buddest Way of thinking in the 49 days of the Bardo.

difficult to truly understand, it would better if explained in modern English instead of a direct translation. This is of course aimed at Buddhists, no doubt Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Animists, and Atheists will have different experiences, lots of different thrones and deities and a belief in hell, not to be taken literally I presume otherwise it would be nonsense.
