I think it’s awesome that you’re taking the time to teach us and the guys you’re working with.

No matter how many videos I watch of you squaring the house off in this initial step.....I still don't know how you do it. 😂 It's magic to me.

It really helped seeing how you hooked the tape on the batter board and added the extra measurement to get your strings set. Thanks for the instruction.

When doing your layout always start with parallel lines, then set the corners with diagonal. You will find this saves time and steps. Always work between the parallel lines.

I love the attention to detail with the measurements, but is the hole digger really that accurate once you get digging? I'm sure the auger get off measurement by atleast a quarter of an inch..

I see you have a new young kid working for you? How much rock do you have to lay in the building area and do you have to add any clay under the rock and is it rolled to compact everything? Really looking forward to work with all you guys! Take care and don't work too hard!

Thank you, sir. This was really helpful in getting started correctly. You're a good teacher. I know this takes time out of your work day to make videos like this but I have to say I (and I'm sure many others) really appreciate it. If you would entertain a question I'd like to ask what governs the top elevation of your piers? Are they a set distance below a given top of slab elevation?

Hey Paul, do you ever use your drone to get an Arial view of your layout to double check if its visually square and looks right in the lot space? I know from researching Earth homes the angle the front of house faces in relation to the azimuth of the sun can play a big role in how comfortable a home is. Because I spent my life in HVAC I know how much it plays in the cooling load and lag etc. is that a factor in post frames? Is it all up to the client? Is it determined by architect ? For example The Navistar, Inc building in Naperville Il, it was designed with the angle of the sun throughout the year and has special giant shades that raise and lower so as to control thermal lag.

I'm going to be doing a pier foundation on a sloping lot. My high point will be about 4 feet higher than my low point. What would you recommend on how to do the batter board/string line approach when so high off the ground? Thanks in advance!

How do you decide whether to do a frost wall or concrete piers? I'm in Southwest MN and wondering how to choose which is best?
@reneeweber51872 жыл бұрын
Why do you use piers instead of footings and a frost wall on some builds?
