Joel's building code for his neighborhood/district is very natrual, with many of the streets following contour lines. Most genius of all is that even though He has be going for more high rise structures, they don't stand much further above the entire Cherry-blossom Forest. Joel's builds age perfectly in the right environment.

An idea to light up your base a bit better is to place frog lights every 3 or so blocks in the walkway and put trapdoors over them I think it would light your area up great and give a bit more color to your walkways, you could even mix and match the frog lights :D
