Great explanation. Question: Can shorting a CFD be an effective way to hedge a long, dividend-earning long position that I have? Say I'm long earning a big dividend that I don't want to reduce and the market looks like its going to take an ugly turn, why not short some % of my long position on the CFD side to reduce risk? I suppose there's the borrow rate to take into account, but on a high-dividend ETF that's paying over 15%, it would probably make sense, no?
