I find holding an iPhone far easier for macro videography, lighter and easier to get into hard to reach places. The screen and the lens are closer to the subject.

Super-solid video. Comprehensive. Since you’re using manual focus in video, how do you feel about using a Laowa 90mm 2x macro APO?

It would be a solid lens with more magnification but you would loose the lens stabilisation.

Hi Stewart, thanks for putting out quality videos. I’m a current Canon user with lots invested in lenses and different bodies. I’ve been struggling with macro using an R5/laowa 100/Godox 350C/ and AK diffuser. Can’t stack with flash, and find the whole rig very heavy and impossible for single-hand operation. I’m 75 years old, but still going, so I’d like to make things easier. Since you’ve moved to OM, I value your advice. What would you recommend for $1,000/$2,000/$3,000 kit? Thank you.

Budget friendly kit: Olympus OM-D E-M1 mk2, 60mm lens, Godox V359o and a Cygnustech diffuser. For a higher budget replace the E-M1 with an OM1 mk1 or mk2.
