visited fatfreq in singapore a few weeks back, was attended by passionate staff that made my experience there unforgettable. Scarlet mini is the absolute king for EDM and RnB tracks. Blind bought after HBB’s review a few months back. My ears are blessed… now thinking of upgrading to the Grand Maestro, please do a review of it!

I recently got my custom Grand Maestro and I don't know if I ever need to get another iem. Being able to switch between 4 tunings ranging from neutral with a mild bass boost to varying degrees of U and V shaped just kind of makes my whole iem collection irrelevant.

i really enjoyed the gm! but the vocal switch digs into my ears, does the custom version get rid of that some how?

They recessed the entire vocal switch in the latest version, it is now almost level with the shell. You could still flick them while listening.

Ordered the mini from Bloom audio and I am absolutely loving this iem. They have a perfect fit in my ears. The bass is clean and impactful. The mids are recessed but the highs are tastefully presented. Very fun for bass centered music. Fulfilling my bass head desires.

I think the drumming community was the one who asked for more bass. It's incredible how you cannot hear the bass drum in a IEM while playing live, instead, they have to use a drum throne thumper, to get that feedback.

I hope this 10 mins video of expert opinion’s on IEMs is enough to convince my parents to buy me, and hopefully them too, another set of their IEMs. I personally own a pair of Scarlet Mini and will often wear it while studying for exams. Imho, the bass provides a non-fatiguing sound and never fails to release neurotransmitter dopamine and teleport me to another realm which my brain then ingest information from these sound waves. Nonetheless, I pass with flying colors. Will be heading to their showroom to try more other IEMs soon!

@Lymph8 So I've tried Scarlet at Canjam and honestly I thought it was just too far. The SE and mini are at least somewhat refined through the whole frequency range, but with the scarlets, any bass presence totally drowns out the mids and treble like you might expect a subwoofer to. They're like, comically bassy lol. If that's what you want then awesome, but personally I found the sheer amount of bass quite distracting from my music. The SE hits a sweet middle ground with the thunderous, eardrum rattling bass but still lots of detail and space for the mids to come through, and the mini is a slightly less polished alternative.

Read many reviews and comments saying Fatfreq is good in bass, but very few compare Fatfreq with other IEMs whose are also good in bass, e.g. Madoo Typ512, Empire Ears Legend X, ... really interest to know.

All you need to say to make me buy good IEM's, earphones or headphones is: bass. If you repeat that word couple of times then I already made an order and I am 100% sure that scarlet's will not be too bassy to me, I just fucking love it too much. I always crank up the bass in my columns at home and only them can fill that gap in my heart. So I hope scarlet's will be able to do that too without pissing off everybody in the building. P.s. what that upgraded cable does? Is it worth it?

Crin tuned the Dusk and you heard what he feels about bass. I’ve got both. The Scarlet Minis are like crack cocaine, theres no stopping once you start. My test tracks sounded awful but put on EDM (Chase & Status) and wow. Enjoying NIN’s The Downward Spiral more now than back in the day,

I have the Novas, not a bass head iem. Unless you EQ. I don’t EQ. They are bulky. HOWEVER if you enjoy rock music, vocals, and acoustic music, they would be great. I don’t use them as much. FIIO FH3 do a better job with bass and detail and are a great set for their price.

It's obviously not a question of tuning. This performance requires choosing specific drivers and designing a specific shell. It's not budget. Truthear x Crinacle Zero Red is probably the best that can be done for cheap at the moment.

Seems like it's very hard to make a PROPER basshead IEM. If you look at all the real basshead IEMs such as the Fatfreq MM, Scarlet Mini, Metalure Wave, Symphonium Titan, Fir Audio Xenon 6, etc., they're all super expensive. If it was that easy to make a real budget basshead IEM somebody would have done it already haha.
