Thank you for this. I have never seen the BT-Curve and the PF-Curve combined. But it is a exzellent to explain why it is fundamental to go into condition monitoring. I like your Chanel as much as your podcast.

Glad it was helpful! Thank you so much. Is there any other examples related to our industry that you would like to see?

Excellent explainer, George. It is great as is but I can offer one suggestion for improvement. I always emphasize the time-independent nature of most of the causes of equipment failure modes, so I always show my P-F diagrams with a distinct *break* in the time axis. Your words suggest incipient failure or P can start any time, but the diagram does not. I also like to highlight that any predictive or on-condition tasks we perform do not offer any direct influence on the actual asset health & condition - we are simply measuring the effects against some standard in order to decide if and when we should perform a maintenance intervention. This may be obvious to some but others have this idea and a false sense of security that measuring the condition (though effects in RCM terms) actually affects the condition and extends the useful life - it does not. Finally, the real trick and the conversation to be had in asset health & condition is to understand which side of P we are on. When we do decide we're on the 'wrong side of P' (the right) then we should not try to *guess* how much time to fail in an attempt to defer the intervention. We should start planning straight away and perform the corrective action so we don't ever get close to catastrophic failure. I say don't play Russian Roulette, but yet a lot of maintenance supervisors and managers attempt to do exactly that.
