I considered Batman Begins the best live-action Batman movie simply because other films in the series pushed Batman to the side in favor the the villains and plot. The Batman easily takes over the spot for me, as an adaptation of the comics; character-wise, aesthetically and a capturing of Gotham's deep lore and history. Robert Pattinson is my favorite Batman and potentially Bruce Wayne too once he develops a playboy persona in the sequel.

And that's the thing it's Batman begins that feels like a hardly has any weaknesses I can't even think of one to be honest and although the heights of the Batman were amazing I didn't feel like it was lacking of flaws like Batman begins is. Exactly. "The Batman" is a movie that demands empathy for the broken people. It is much like "Joker" in that respect. For quite similar reasons it is being abhorred, misconstrued, misunderstood, rejected by certain critics who can't handle empathising with or trying to understand mental trauma, moral grey areas, ethical dilemmata, political turmoil or social tensions. This isn't a feelgood movie of escapism or rosetinted glasses. This isn't a nihilistic movie about shooting up bad guys just because you can and feel emotionally entitled to do so. This isn't a propaganda film pretending to know all the answerst to society's problems. This is a film that dares to address problems and pose questions and invites you to challenge perceptions and think for yourself.

How is that not just giving a lazy excuse to give something batman can save. And his whole hope not vengeance would be a whole lot more meaningful if he was willing to protect criminals from the riddler and not innocent people, because atleast then he would have a developed into a symbol of hope that people can change, like his father being good despite acting bad once. Begins was a really brave movie. They presented it as an action film with the trailers, but nearly half of the movie( from what I remember) was actually a drama about Bruce Wayne and how he becomes the Batman. People probably expected to see Batman much earlier in the movie, and he only appears after an hour, thus building the excitement for his appearance. Matt Reeves does take some inspiration from Bale's Batman from the TDK trilogy to call out Batman's crusade for vengeance, when he states that "people need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy, as a symbol I can be incorruptible. I can be everlasting"; and that message comes into full circle in The Batman's ending when he lights up the red flare and saves people. Also this Ra's Al Ghul quote in Batman Begins sums it perfectly: "A vigilante it's just a man lost in the scramble for his own gratification, he can be destroyed or locked up. But; if you make yourself more than just a man, if you devote yourself to an ideal. And if they can't stop, then you become something else entirely. A legend Mr. Wayne"

It's the best made of the trilogy, but I still prefer the first and last. I feel like The Batman surpasses the trilogy, especially in terms of being a Batman film. And this film also has by far the best character development for the main character. One detail that I like and seems like a beautiful multiversal nod, is how The Batman picks up basically where The Dark Knight Rises left off. Part of The Dark Knight Trilogy's denouement is Bruce's will stating that Wayne Manor will become an orphanage for at risk youth. A key component of The Batman's plot is what went on at the Wayne Manor Orphanage, with no Wayne to watch over it.

It’s just difficult to agree with this notion when during Batman’s investigation he’s always two steps behind Riddler. Batman doesn’t come off as intelligent at all. The first riddle i solved faster than Batman. In fact the officer standing guard at Riddler’s apt is smarter than Batman. He’s the real hero of the story. If it wasn’t for him the casualties at the Sports Arena would’ve been higher. The only praise I have for the Batman is Gotham city and cinematography.

The way I see it, is if he's able to solve everything in like an hour that leaves no room for character growth. Remember he's only in his second year as Batman, he's supposed to be rough around the edges and constantly making mistakes. For example, the Batman we all know wouldn't just stand there while people shot at him, he'd be dodging and taking out the bad guys with surgical precision, something this Batman has yet to learn. He also went too far when he beat up the fake Riddler, something that I'm willing to bet will happen again but he will show more restraint

As someone who criticizes Nolan's take on Batman and Gotham for being too "real life-like", I honestly think you didn't do Begins justice on this video. For once, I thought Ra's Al Ghul was a better villain than the Riddler, who was excellent until his plan somehow involved flooding the city, which was by far the weakest part of the movie, all of the sudden he went from being a serial killer against the elites to a top tier terrorist, a transition which in my opinion was made very poorly. Also, Gotham was pretty good on BB, a bit cleaner than in The Batman but still recognizable as Gotham. It was TDK that tanked the city's aesthetic by being just Chicago.
@SigalDa2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Although I'm biased because I love the dark knight trilogy I agree with you
@jasonalv74362 жыл бұрын
I heavily disagree with your criticism on the Riddler, he clearly has had bad experiences with mayors who makes false promises so seeing Bella Real giving all these promises seems all too familiar. He killed the corrupt men to get to Falcone which is basically the mayor of Gotham for 20 years now with the help of Batman. He basically wants to "renew" Gotham in his own mentally broken way and it made perfect sense when you factor all he's been through. He went from a zodiac killer rip off to literally being Riddler from the comics. You may think that his change made him a less terrifying villain but I think that's kind of the point. When he wears his mask he's this mysterious killer but when you open it, he's just narcissist who also happens to be a streamer, he's a nobody. So I don't think it's a poor transition at all, just a surprise plot twist and I think the final battle is the perfect scene to conclude Batman's arc.

I was vouching for batman 2022 until I watched Batman begins again. I realised people are liking batman 2022 because of the hype and because the kind of atmosphere and aesthetics it is set in , something recently adopted by movies . Everything being dark and sad and depressing like the Joker . Was batman 2022 a bad movie? Absolutely not , it was the one of the best batman movies , felt true to comics , but did I enjoy it more than batman begins? No not much , why? Because batman 2022 although was a true batman movie , it lacked the kind of enthusiasm that batman begins had , it felt more like a detective movie ( which a true batman movie should be) but also lacked the spicyness , it felt less like a superhero movie . Do I balme Matt Reeves for it? No !!! This paradigm has been set in society that all superhero movies got to be filled with action and the villain has got to be very strong or iconic or must have some very strong principles or the hero should be very charismatic or uko the quintessential superhero type and not like a depressed normal guy who can't decide what he wants to do in life is confused between who he actually is and where he wants to find solace , Bruce Wayne in batman 2022 felt more what a normal human would go through . Anyway since we all have been wired to see superhero movies in this way batman 2022 felt a bit lackluster and it wasn't even the filmmakers fault .it is just hard to accept this new way of seeing a superhero movie . But again batman begins has its own taste just like batman 2022. Ones like jack Daniels and the other is like Johnnie Walker , you appreciate both and both have different feeling. Both are incomparable and both will age like a fine barreled whisky.

Batman Begins is the best "real world" realization of a classic Batman story with a standard, solid structure. It adapts the mainstream comic stories. BvS is a case for how successful a visually accurate Batman can also be compelling on-screen without losing gravitas. Batfleck is graphically the most comic book accurate representation of Batman so far. In turn, The Batman is a representation of one of those racy Black Label graphic novels which is push the envelope in terms of subjects, graphic scenes and character deconstruction. It's almost like the "Noel" or "Damned" stories by Lee Bermejo and Brian Azarello.

Personally, the main flaw with The Batman was Catwoman. She was pretty much pointless to the film, and her sudden love interest with Batman felt more scripted and random than natural. I also think that Ra’s Al Ghul was a better villain than Riddler. The Riddler just suddenly went from a selective killer, only focused on killing off and exposing the elites and the politicians to a massive terrorist trying to renew Gotham by flooding it. Ra’s motive to remove the corruption from Gotham by destroying it remained consistent throughout the film. I also liked Bale’s Bruce Wayne more, but that’s an unfair comparison because Pattinson’s Bruce wasn’t supposed to be charismatic and didn’t know to be human. Batman Begins had better side characters and a better story and script, while the Batman had better cinematography and music and a better Batman and Gotham. I would say Batman Begins is better, but The Batman would beat it if it had a better Riddler and Catwoman.

Both are Good but Begins is a better Batman flick, "The Batman" however is a true Batman adaptation. Although Batman had to use his resources by connecting with others and not so much a detective (in Begins), I believe he was the smarter fighter. Pattinson's Batman was very (mind-numbingly) careless with how he engaged criminals. The Iceberg lounge for example; going in through the front door full of criminals is ridiculous! He got shot more times than any Batman I've seen on screen. It was terrible, but still better fighting than BB, but TDK club scene was better and showed how to approach it. The Batman villains are actually created by his presence and not by terrible back stories of a villain, struggles, and/or the state of Gotham, which should not be the case. That said, 'The Batman' is a great Comic-like Batman experience as well as Batman Begins. BB just does it for me. Gordon: "You're just one man?" Ninja Ski Mask Wayne: "Now we're two" still gives me chills!

Tim Burton gave us the blueprint of what Batman should be and what most fail to realize is Batman creator Bob Kane was still alive at the time. HE was able to oversee the film the way Stan Lee was able to oversee the Marvel films. Therefore the creator himself was able to set the tone aside from the campy takes on his character. Chris Nolan set the new tone and Matt Reeves told a story set in the new Batman era. I almost see it as they all do their part in telling one of many stories for the character and doing so in the way that is a staple in each of their own film styles. I love it, I want more takes and serious film producers to tackle their Batman story. I know we have to compare the Batmen in the suits but the story and the way they are told is what pulls me in. I like the train montage in batman begin and how they showed Bruce become the batman I wished they did that for the batman 2022

Batman Begins gets the edge, it’s the perfect origin for Batman/Bruce Wayne. The Batman makes Bruce irrelevant and is basically a origin story about the purpose of Batman.
@jennav20632 жыл бұрын
It doesn’t make Bruce Wayne irrelevant tho, I’m pretty sure Matt Reeves is building up to that Bruce Wayne persona that we all know and love from the comics for the next movies.

Well definitely see more of Bruce Wayne's side in the sequels

U can’t compare begins to the Batman , as the timeline placement is in two separate phases of Batman’s story, one is an origin story and the other is his second year as the bat

I feel like both are top tier Batman movies of the last decade

I've loved Batman most of my life, but I've watched "The Batman" only once. It was fine, but I don't know, I just don't desire to go back to it. 3 hours with a lot of exposition can really just drag on. Bale's Batman and Bruce had me rooting for him more. More invested in him and what he was trying to do. The world they've made here is just too drab and uniform and conventional for me. I want villains with more theatricality and contrast with Batman visually. I just want to feel some wonder and some thrills when watching a Batman movie, and this gave me too little of that - Batman is a more grounded superhero, but he's still a superhero.

You got the wrong suit for Batman begins

Who’s the better Bond? Who’s the better doctor (from doctor who)? There is no definitive answer. Some could even argue for Kilmer or Clooney because that’s the Batman they like. While I agree with you in preference for Reeves’s take, the Nolan trilogy is a masterpiece of superhero storytelling, even in light of the MCU. Different strokes for different folks. But I think we can all objectively say that both directors have done amazing work with their vision of the character.

Honestly i always prefer batman begins over the dark knight. The dark knight is more of an mission impossible movie with 3 main character being blend so well and have sort of their own morals with a conclusive ending. U can say its a better overall movie, but just talking about batman movie, batman begins take W by good margin. Even Quentin Tarantino told in one interview that he prefers begins over dark knight. But still my fav is the batman, it was actually a batman movie where we can literally feels batman perspective in whole 3 hour movie constantly and it touches the side which was untold till now That what consequences,fear and impact bruce hold over his past grief where we saw Pattinson covering a whole arc from being a furious viggillante, vengeance to a symbol of hope which was blend with story beautifully by mat reeves, my fav scene was his encounter vs riddler when riddler said we are not different, u inspired me! 😅 Also reeves picked the best villan to show a noir detective story which compliments david fincher vibes with batman darkness and specially with gotham which was missing in nolans triology.
