This theme in particular really solidified my feeling I had that this film really felt like a Frankenstein, the wolf man, and the rest of the black and white horror and tragedy films. Idk if anybody else felt that watching the film, since the first time I watched it in theaters till now it still feels like those films and I love it. SPOILER: I like that Selina talked about the reality she faced. Being poor and survived while the corrupt white men controlled the city. She revealed her secret and that made Batman realized that he had no idea about Selina's hardship. The cat kissed the bat for the first time.

Well she was a black orphan who’s dad (who just happened to be white) runs the entire city and killed her mom, whilst allowing social services to take her away. The line was a little out of place, but when you think about it it makes sense from her perspective.

The decision to make her mixed race in "The Batman" had little to do with "being woke", same with casting an excellent actor of Jeffrey Wright's status as Gordon, other than giving you an excuse to whine because you don't have some Tampax on hand.
