What an epic conversation!! Everybody needs to hear this. I was diagnosed with asthma at the age of 23, quit dairy at age 52, went wfpb at age 53 and I was asthma free by the age of 54. I'm now 56. Also got rid of my rosacea 9 months after quitting dairy which my dermo told me was with me for life. Ha! Thank you AJ for putting out such great conversations and of course, thank you to Dr. Mills and Dr. Batiste. I could listen for days on end.

Fantastic enlightening interview. Dr Mills’ and Dr Batiste’s open and frank discussion about issues of racism and of systemic rascism in governmental structure and functioning and in the delivery of medical services, of sexism, of governmental support of agribusiness and even of class issues needs to be heard by everyone. Wow. So resonated with me as I’ve struggled to be believed by medical professionals for years - still with no success. (Add some ageism into the mix.) And I’ve realized how misinformed I have been by our government and had to work to inform myself on these issues - and still have much to learn. So much is wrong with the health system and the agribusiness industry, frankly discussed and called out here. Just wow. I love Dr Mills’ passion on these issues.

So, Thank you, again. (Lastly, Dr. Mills’s laugh is infectious and made me LOL!)

I cured my son 3 years ago of asthma by taking all dairy away. This is information I hope more parents are exposed to.

The same with my daughter! I had a woman who happened to be white tell me straight up your daughter needs to be off all dairy; every dairy food milk, butter, cheese you name it and she was right! For years I had been taking her to the hospital for asthma treatments and asthma medication and eczema treatments and eczema medication and once we got her a hundred percent off dairy it went away!

This whole conversation: Wow! eye opening. Thanks for sharing these personal stories and your motivations for fighting the dairy industry as it relates to dietary racism. I had never thought about how pushing dairy on kids/adults who are asthmatic or lactose intolerant really interrupts their ability to learn. Thanks for illuminating that.

37:00 this part really resonates with me. I recently went to the doctor because of chest pain and terrible fatigue for days after light exertion. Because of my age, the doc won’t take me seriously. I’m worried but not sure what to do because I can only see a cardiologist with a referral. I’m hoping I can find another doc soon who’ll actually listen.
@CHEFAJ2 жыл бұрын
I don't know how old you are or what area you are in, but you may want to see a lifestyle medicine doctor to work through some of those issues and perhaps he/she can refer you to a cardiologist if you need one.

OMG what an amazing and enlightening interview by two of my fav docs. But isn’t it incredibly interested that at the end of this video is COMMERCIAL / AD FOR THE SOUTHERN DAIRY ASSOC. promoting the consumption of dairy to our kids!!! AUUUUGH! Chef AJ I know you had nothing to do with that, but it just goes to show how desperate the meat and dairy industry is, and how intense the turf war really is.

Dr Batiste, I had a similar experience with my brother who I took to the emergency room of the hospital of the medical school I attended. The ER doctor dismissed my concerns about my brother and ignored my telling him that the history he was stating was the history of another Black man who was in the ER. The final result is that my brother was referred to a PCP appointment 20 days later. 5 days after the ER visit I convinced a cardiologist that my brother was critically ill. He saw him and had him admitted to hospital. The hospitalists did not grasp the gravity of the situation and my brother died within 48 hours of his admission to hospital. Racism and seismic abounded.

Dr. Mills made some great points about how milk affects black children, and how it can affect their performance. I just wonder what the black community would have said if dairy had not been marketed to them along with the white community.
@aliceglenn66152 жыл бұрын
I've always been lactose intolerant! I've also known for many years anything your body rejects avoid it! (Common sense, if it doesn't fit Don't Force it) foolishly some are continued just because I thought it was good for me or should I say healthy! So I relied on medicine that stopped the bloating and gas which caused other problems! Yes, we need to talk to our doctors and sometimes just use common sense! It is very important that we read make a list of the problems we are having and take it to our doctors with hopes they care we know all doctors don't! If we are able find a doctor that does we can pray for that! We can't necessarily treat ourselves but we don't have to be ignorant about what's going on in our bodies and with our health period. I am not only going to live for Christ but I am going to take care of His Temple like he instructs us to do in his word! I'm so ashamed and sorry for not doing so!!! Just keep me in your prayers and I will do the same for you! I thank God for these doctors, for Chef AJ and Black History Month! It was no mistake that I found this platform! If I must say it's a God thing 😀! We must all pray and ask God for discipline and continued direction! Romans 12 and 2 speaks about being transformed by the renewing of our minds! Read the whole chapter if you desire! It's very fitting on this occasion of what we're learning! I just turned 70 years old and I've been blessed with 14 great-grandchildren, seven grandchildren, and two children! I want to be around to enjoy all of my babies for as long as the Lord allows me! I would mark tomorrow as the first day of my life because I've already messed up today 😂 but it's really not funny! I'll end my night with prayer and a turmeric cocktail a little reading and research on plant-based nutrition and going to bed at a decent hour!!! The whole day won't be wasted.,. I'm looking forward to a great day of success tomorrow!!! I'm taking one day at a time with a made up mind! Taking all the best supplements doesn't work with eating incorrectly as it was stated! It's just a waste of time and money, money most of us don't have! I know I don't!!! I really need help but I'm going to do what I can! Yes, I have medical issues some of which I need more professional advice! It's out of my league! In the mean time each of you be blessed and stay safe! I've enjoyed the panel!!!

Addressing race needs to begin in elementary school. Bringing light to our nation’s past and present in an age appropriate way is essential to healing as a nation. I teach third grade, and my students appreciate being allowed to speak honestly about what they already know is happening. Thank you for this powerful, candid discussion.
