And with the ammount of people being likely 10s of times higher than availalbe tickets. only a small amount actually were able to buy. Also because its just the first wave of tickets. so next to bots, it was really just a numbers game / bad luck

Sports and concert tickets have been scalped by botters for decades. It's not Riot's fault and nobody is going to stop it any time soon since the ticket platforms get a cut of all the resales.

Not just no bot protection but also way too underpriced tickets. If Riot set the ticket prices to a reasonable point there would be less incentive for scalping. For reference the WWE tickets 2 days later in O2 are selling for roughly the same price despite the fact that a LoL Worlds finals has 10-20 times the viewership of an average WWE event (the vast majority of this is Chinese viewership but similar argument can be made for WWE/US)

Here in Brazil, most of tickets available for the CBLOL 2024.2 finals were bought by BOTs and people who always buy a lot of tickets to resell them later at higher price, like more than five times the initial price.

Living in the UK going to london to see worlds was allways a dream. We signed up for pre sale, and general sale reminders. 4 of us had logged on within 1 second of them going on sale. None of us got tickets. None were available within the initial few seconds. All bots. Immediately placed online for resale at typically 3-5 times the amount.

I can't believe riot has such a poor ticket sale system. Some content creators who planned events, like the french youtuber Squeezie with the GP explorer (a racing event), and sold tickets usually had some kind of identification linked to the buyers. This prevented resale and was only allowed through a platforms put in place by the organizers who would keep the tickets at the same price to avoid scalpers.

This is not on riot as far as I'm aware. When booking a venue you have to sell the tickets via the venues dedicated partner. This is O2 Arena and AXS's fault

this is not a riot issue at all lol it's 100% the ticket/venue's issue and this issue happens ALL the time when people try to buy concert or event tickets. it's truly a lottery trying to get tickets and unless you're willing to pay for VIP tickets when they first drop, you're most likely going to be stuck buying super upcharged tickets from scalpers =/

Worst thing was that if 1 bot got true queue then all bots got true, because they could just copy link and paste it to other bots. yes you heard right, the link after getting true queue works for everyone. so they made it even more easily for bots get more tickets.

As someone who was actually there, most of the details presented in this video regarding the sales process range from technically incorrect to completely false. It doesn't sound like he had any first-hand experience with the sale and is more just aggregating info he found from Reddit/Twitter posts the next day. (Don't get me wrong, it was still horrible and frustrating. But almost all of the "issues" he talked about were not actually a real thing or someone just not understanding how the process was supposed to work)

I was thinking and talking to my GF about going to Worlds, since last year, but the closer I got to the date for the tickets the more I realized (sober up) to the reality of this. I knew that it would likely be near impossible to get the tickets, EVEN if I had Mastercard and not Visa like most people here. SO, I just gave up before trying. It's really sad how obviously, it could be fixed if they wanted to, but they have no reason to care about this. Before RIOT could earn pretty much from battle pass, skins and coming to LEC finals event from my part, but from now on I will not spend anything on ANY of these things because it's just all bad. I will gladly spend my money elsewhere!

yes there is a law about this. but it is only in effect if the original ticket seller chooses to opt in. meaning riot did chose not to enforce this. most likely do to not many ticket sites if any at all. has to ability to use every countries unique identity system to lock tickets to a real person. you mostly see this law be enforced on national events and not so much international events
