7PRC very impressive cartridge that the majority of hunters would never notice the difference in performance other than past 500 yards and mental. It’s good for rifle and ammo manufacturers especially Hornady. I’m always for new cartridges that make sense but many hunters will stick with their proven rifles and cartridges that’s been successful over the years and others who desire the new and latest. May both camps be happy!

I have 28 Nosler -7Rem mag and 7prc. 28 Nosler is over and above all the other 7mm. I love my Rem mag and with the addition of the 7prc I can tell you the image and PRC are really close. Powder capacity goes to the rem mag, ability to set the projectiles outside the casing PRC. The 28 has more that enough capacity to set the projectiles deeper and still out perform the others. No such thing as positive -positive hasn't to be a trade off. So many factors go into the results it's easy to make the outcome look the way you wanted. If you want a new rifle buy it I hope you all get everyone you like.
@phild9813 Жыл бұрын
It’s an improvement over past 7s minutely in some ways, other than of course recoil. Don’t buy one if you think it’s going to be a massive upgrade over your current 7. Buy one if you don’t have a 7 yet, or if you want the latest and greatest. All of the same long range hunting issues exist with the PRC that have existed in prior cartridges. It’s not magic so don’t treat it like it is. Fudd, out.

Agree 100%, got a stock browning with a 1-8 twist that pretty much does what the 7prc does, I hand load of course. if you have a 7rem mag get a 28 nosler to really see the real difference and potential of a 7mm bullet. Don’t have a 7rem mag then get a 7prc

I have a 280 AI with a 1-8 twist. Shooting 175gr ablr, just a touch under 2900fps, 0.3 moa at 600 yards. It’s a great elk rifle and can’t wait to see how it would perform with African plains game. I’m not gonna switch over to 7 PRC yet. Maybe after I’ve shot out my barrel, but not sooner. This is a great video. Good job guys
@steveelder53068 ай бұрын
since my 7prc won't shoot a 175gr bullet faster than that you'd not be very bright to switch from what you have. unless you blow it up or something.

The 7mm Rem Mag was released one year before the .300 win mag, so it can't be said it was ment to be an inbetween cartridge from the .300 Win Mag and the .30-06. Actually the .300 win mag is similar to the 7mm Rem Mag in many ways, while the .375 H&H is a completely different thing... A standard bolt face is not a setback, it means you may hold more rounds in the same magazine while carrying a lighter rifle in the mountains while not compromising trajectory and energy within reasonable ranges. The 7mm PRC seems to be a great target round, however, its advantages may be useful mostly to bench rest shooters, not that much to hunters. Now, the .28 Nosler seems to be thought more as a hunting round than a target cartridge, as its highlights seem to be of more practical advantage in the field.
@eddielombera5862 Жыл бұрын
Yes, it was designed to pretty much give you 30-06 energy, a bit more though but with a flatter trajectory. Doesn’t make sense to replace a 7rem mag with a 7prc, you won’t gain much of an advantage, the 28 nosler though… huge difference. A real hunting cartridge with its low barrel life
@ratherbefishing4225 Жыл бұрын
Well said. Not sure what this guy’s agenda is with the 7 prc. You don’t get something for nothing. The only appreciable disadvantages of going with more case capacity are recoil and your barrel heating up quicker at the range, plus there are diminishing returns in terms of velocity gains when you start going way overbore.
@steveelder53068 ай бұрын
bench rest? wtf are you even talking about?

ill take the 280 ai for 2/3 the recoil, better barrel life, and similar performance... I think we need to give the AI some love for North american hunting

I consider the 7mm PRC a Remington 7mm mag without the belt. Designed to accept the latest high BC bullets using a faster twist rate then the 7MM Mag.

Spot on. Definitely not worth changing up your 7mag, but I’d buy a PRC if buying a 7 for first time right now

Then why have manufacturers increased the twist rates on 7 rem mag? 175gn elite Berger is 3000 out of a 7 rem mag comfortably. Can do more. It’s just marketing people. They do it to sell more crap.

I have owned the 6.5 prc and 300 prc, both were great. My only issue with the 300 prc was the recoil, wasn’t very fun for the range. I really want to try the 7prc, I think it will be a great round for hunting and the range. Been waiting for a good 7mm and I think this is the one for me.

@@JosephWilhoit-ef6nl funny you say that, I just did the same myself. I have been looking for a while, not the exact model of rifle I wanted but a good deal and the cartridge I wanted. Just bought a bergara b14 wilderness hunter 7prc, should be a nice combo with my bergara b14 wilderness terrain 6.5 prc. I am going to make sure the rifle is heavy to reduce recoil. If I need to I will get the barrel threaded. I am really looking forward to using the rifle.

@@JosephWilhoit-ef6nl I came very close to buying a browning xbolt as well, only reason why I didn’t is I like the Remington 700 footprint with the bergara. Much easier to modify and upgrade, later down the line. As for which bullet, I am a handloader so I am buying some eld-x for now and then will reload with something else. If you own a 7rem mag I don’t see why you’d replace it with a 7prc, you won’t gain much of an advantage into after 500yds which in that case if I was hunting at those distances, the 28 nosler would be my go to. I’d only consider the 7PRC if i didn’t already own a 7rem mag.
@Erik7prc2 ай бұрын
You don't have to "replace" anything. You can simply get one to add to the rifle collection if you have one. Shoot it or don't shoot it. You guys talk like there's some kind of cartridge limit on rifles or something

I agree is a improvement but it’s minimal. However I think the new guns being made for the prc with tighter tolerances is the big W over other 7s and other rifles. You can’t get those tight tolerances with other rifles for FACTORY 7 rem mag ammo. Not everyone hand loads but it will look like thy do now! Thanks to the prcs! 😎

What I don't understand is why the gun manufacturers hamper us. We didn't need a 7 mm PRC, all you had to do is lengthen the throat in the rifle and load the bullet out farther and no matter what you do to the 7 mm PRC it'll never touch it because you have more case capacity and your throat has been lengthened so you can run your bullets just as far out as the 7 mm PRC, if the throat's cut longer the bullet can be seated further out and more powder can be put in behind it. Custom gun makers. Been doing that for over 75 years. I don't understand why the manufacturers can't do the same thing

Why does Bergara use inferior 4140 in their barrels rather than superior 4150, 410R or other steels?
@astang1072Ай бұрын
The 40° shoulder on the Ackley is just a case capacity boost over the parent 280/30-06 case; straighter case wall so more powder. Has nothing to do with any improved “nozzle” for internal ballistics.

Its not a far stretch to say the 6.8 western is doing the same performance right now with less recoil and ever so slightly riffle and shorter barrel lengths. Sad that Hornaday wont support because if word got out..its the biggest threat to there sales.

That I Know Of)! So, Some of Those Lighter Weight Bullets Would Be Perfect For What to are Talking About! 🤔

🤠 For Example, Using 204 Norma Powder and the 110 grain Barnes TTSX or Accubond Bullet (See Their Respective Reloading Manuals), I Can Get 3,500 ft/s Out of My 270 Winchester! So, What Does That Mean Regarding Trajectories? If I Zero at 350 Yards, I am +/- 4.5" Out to 400 yards and Only Have 15" of Drop at 500 yards! 🔥 So, It Is Basically "Point and Shoot" With "Little Guesswork"! 😜
