Kellogg himself actually wonders why the institute didn't just refreeze all the dwellers in vault 111 when you're going through his memories. His best guess is that the institute simply didn't want so many "loose ends" around.
@stevfesttv1200

I believe Father did this on purpose in order to push the sole survivor towards him faster. If the SS had re-animated with everyone from his old neighborhood still alive, he probably would've spent a lot more time trying to survive with them and form a group maybe intent on taking down the Institute, another faction to worry about. Plus all those pre-war minds, with access to information and technology that could rival their own. The institute hates competition.

I always assumed that the reason the Minutemen were not involved at Bunker Hill is because Kessler is pretty hostile to the Minutemen. It's not like she would even consider calling on them to help and is in fact paying off the Raiders to leave them alone. I've never tried it but I wonder if you used your flare gun to call the Minutemen if they would show up. I'll have to try that sometime.

I've always seen this conversation with Father slightly differently to most people, mainly because my first ever playthrough was an institute playthrough. He sounds cold, unloving and callous when he describes letting you out of the vault as "an experiment", but I like to think that he only uses that language because that's the way he knows and understands the world. There was no logical reason to free you, leaving only the illogical emotionally charged reasons fuelled by love and hope. Father felt this innate love for his parent and hoped they'd find him, but this clashed with his scientific upbringing which means he can't really adequately explain *why* he did it.
@thememeilator2633
@thememeilator2633 Жыл бұрын
i know that i`ve seen every version of this conversation and personally like them all. it`s one of the few moments in Fallout 4 that to me still holds up in terms of writing. the Minutemen version is the opposite of the institute one, i was Nate when i went through it and the last words he can say to father, his son Shaun "Shaun. as your father, i am very disappointed in you" i like to think that even though Shaun was not raised with love that one line still hits him.
@jimcalhoun361
@jimcalhoun361 Жыл бұрын
@@thememeilator2633 I go down the "pissed for only being thought of as an experiment" because that is how I would feel. I think the disappointed dialog tree is second best if only because Father doesn't have any basis to understand that you being disappointed doesn't mean you don't still love him.

@@jimcalhoun361 yeah you are right on that one. i still think Father orders the attack on the castle because you make him feel something after that if only for a short moment. otherwise why would he invest so many resources into trying to kill you afterwards.

Since then I have consistently played the Minuteman ending just because they may be boring as all hell but they are the least objectional of all of them. My favorite "glitch" if you want to call it that, is if your able to get into Bunker Hill in just the right spot, sometimes Kesler will initiate the "shout" dialog even if your less than a meter away! You'll practically be "nose to nose" with each other, still shouting.. as if your outside the gate. Even more rare, but equally funny, she'll initiate the dialog from the other side of the wall.. even if she can't physically see you. I suppose you could pretend she's been watching you approach from a "hole" in the fence. Also funny! 😄

I always feel like there is something more going on with father. What makes the most sense to me is that we are in fact fully an experiment, that we are a synth that he created using his fathers genes, but he is fully detached because his experiments have failed many times before in the past, and only now has the experiment reached his goal where it is capable of leading the institute and being a father to synth Shaun. I also think synth Shaun has Fathers memories that will be activated upon reaching a certain age. It makes sense that if Father knows he is dying that he would want to replace himself, but perhaps with someone who knows what it is to be loved, or at least has such implanted memories. Perhaps that is the whole purpose of Synth Shaun, Father wants a version of himself that knows what it is to be loved.

that female you found in the C.I.T. ruins in the bathroom were both disturbing and a little sad if you think about one of the many reasons she would be hugging the throne. Obivious one is she was drunk, but she could have been poisoned either by accident or by ingesting bad food, how ever the worst one which would also be the saddest one, Morning Sickness a college student or professor dealing with pregnancy and considering the time the bombs dropped in lore it sadly fits.
@TheScarvig
@TheScarvig Жыл бұрын
pretty sure mild radiation poisoning also has you puke your bowels out. so she might have survived the initial blast but came too late and the institute bunker already had closed its doors on her. she then spent the remainder of her life in the ruins hoping that they might open the doors to let her in. but in the end the radiation ate her up from the inside and she died over that toilet soon after the bombs dropped.

It's amazing that as old as FO4 is, you can still produce such great videos showing the story. Every play of FO4 that I've done I never really go past the story parts like this because as a whole, none of the factions, except the Minute Men, are really the best choice. The Institute though is pretty much my least liked one. It really shows the dark side of science without any sort or moral or ethical codes. I think in the beginning of the Institutes founding after the war they had the right goals, but over the generations the grew into sociopaths like you said. By removing themselves from humanity they lost theirs.

to be fair one possible reason for the institute "killing" all the other inhabitants of 111 might be that after them messing around with the cryo system and probably accidentally thawing many of them (why else would the sole survivor be unfrozen as well if they only need shaun?) the systems the systems capabilities were severely impaired. it probably was barely able to refreeze the sole survivor safely again so the institute rerouted all the lifesupport available so that their backup would survive. the way the other inhabitants are frozen tells me that they werent flash frozen like it would be required for the cryo sleep but rather slowly suffocated/froze in the capsules because the only capsule that went through the proper refreezing process was the one that the sole survivor was in. vault tec probably skimped out on the amount of cryo sleep agent and had just enough in the system to safely freeze the inhabitants once. so the institute might have had to scrape together all the remaining safety margins from all of the capsules in the vault to do one successful and safe refreeze

Could be the Institute disabled other pods to preserve energy for Nate's life support systems. If they needed familial DNA, he would be a higher priority to preserve than other residents. I told everyone in my 1st playthru, I had already join the RR, MM, BH (plus had a glitch where Preston wouldn't stop following me even when I had a different companion) everyone died and they were ignoring me, (I let the synths go though) had the perk where you could move/FT while over encumbered. So much loot.

Its funny that you can befriend everyone enough that you can just hang out and loot everything. You can even stay friendly with Bunker Hill. And the voice actor for Shaun really shows how he was holding back a lot of his personal feelings, which is also revealed if you read Shauns notes on his terminal. And trying to compare morals of a nuclear wasteland to the ones we have today is a futile effort. Move on.

Imagine your infant being kidnapped, and you don't get to see him again until he's 60, and then learning that not only did they steal your child, but that they turned him into a sociopath, utterly and entirely evil. Honestly this is by far the most heartbreaking part of the story. Once I realized that, it's been the full on excuse for my descent into "I just want to burn it all down" and becoming the Overboss.

you can get your companion to carry stuff for you, i mean you can tell them to pick up loot from the bodies, not pick it up yourself then transfer it, just talk to them and then point at the body or container with the loot in. that way they can carry unlimited amounts of stuff.

with the institute if you where to gain control of it because all they are obsessed with is science it would be easy to manipulate them them into doing what you want. as it clear to see all they do is think on a top down level the director has basically become a king. as for the other cryo units not working was that the institute or 60 years prior where they the only three left this could also why kellogg said he/she was the backup because they are all still frozen which leads to a conclusion faulty equipment which is a common theme of voltech also it lead to the trope fallout likes to use of the the lone one or the sole survivor which does add a lot to the story the i am special idea. as for his some yes he's as much a nutjob and manipulative as Maxson and Dima. at this point the only stable and truly good faction leader is Preston Garvey and he even relinquishes power to the player

He's neither. He's stuck between balancing his duties and loyalties to the place he grew up with and works with to survive in the hellhole that is Fallouts world, and hoping for a chance to see his dad one more time before he dies. This kind of double dipping is the reason he holds back his personal feelings all the way to the end until he's on his deathbed. He's afraid that if he shows his personal side instead of sticking to his duties things will go wrong and he's lost his chance to secure the institutes future. He's being nationalistic if anything.

The synths that haven't been purposefully reprogrammed to not know they are synths, all know they are synths. The Institute makes it a thing to always let them know what they are. They recognize this, but they also fear for their lives.

@@UmbraFulgur Gen 3 synths are flesh and blood. Period. The Institute says this, Roslyn Chambers says this. It's why they are such dangerous infiltrators, nobody can tell what they are. This includes their brains, the brains which are the entire reason the Institute created them. To have fully autonomous workers that don't need to be constantly monitored and undergo maintenance. Thing is, those brains that were created to, you know, function like human brains? Well, they function like human brains. Funny, isn't it?

Shaun, also let you free for revenge on Kellogg. He tells you that. He also didn't kill the people in Vault 111, the people in control did, when he was a baby. Also maybe the people in the institute, from that time are dead, the people you meet now was kids, teens, or not born till after that. So blaming everyone in the Institute for their grandfathers mistakes, and crimes, isn't logical or right. From What Shaun says, it doesn't sound like he's been in control very long. It sounds like he gained control, then found out you was in the vault and freed you, to see what would happen and also take revenge on kellogg. Plus the railroad keeps reprogramming synths with other people memories and releasing them in the commonwealth with no one checking on them. Hence you get a murdering raider. They are no better then the mechanist, but with less honorable goals. I feel the Synths are like a more advanced and modified Mr.Handy A.I., hence the reason you can download one into a synth body. Like a cross between a Robobrain and a Normal personality matrix like Ada. You can give Ada a Human brain with the robobrain head, but does that make Ada a human or alive? Ada can then be downgraded to a protectron and still acts the same.. If you watch the Synths get made it has no human brain, only the synth component. So is the component it's brain? Maybe old models used robobrain brains which is why they have no components...

Wait, which quests get Bunker Hill to join the Minute Men without the Battle of Bunker Hill? Because, in the 2,500 hours I've played this game, I have never gotten Bunker Hill as a settlement without the Battle. Presumably because my laser turret / missile turret defenses would butcher the various attackers if/when that battle occurs.
