Great objective analysis of the battle in which the contribution of the Dutch is finally recognised.

Very good video. The battle of Quatre Bras (Four Arms) showed how incompetent Ney could be. His lack of tactical acumen and strategic vision condemned that day the French army to defeat and two days later he did the same at Waterloo. Regards. PS: One thing that irritates me very much about the Hundred Days campaign is the arrogant attitude of most British historians who ignore the bravery of the Dutch and German troops who made up 2/3 of Wellington´s army. Reading most British accounts you would believe that Wellington´s army was 100% British.

I feel the same & have reminded many people that Wellington was in command of an allied army. 👍

@@arslongavitabrevis5136 in fact British accounts don’t just ignore the Dutch, they positively malign them with, what more careful research has revealed to be, slander and untruth. There’s a book (in Dutch) that analyses this. It recounts the story of the battle, but then continues to tell the story of how that story has been usurped, twisted and distorted by various British authors, until today it is a given among English-speaking readers of history that the British won Waterloo all by themselves, while the Dutch ran away and the Prussians only arrived when it was all over.

Corps is pronounced “core”. An oddity of English language.
