When you say most combos work because the opponent doesn’t tech, what exactly do you mean by this?

I used to say it in my first Yuyu Hakusho combo videos when I didn't know much about the game but don't really pay intention about it But basically it meant that combos would work if your opponent didn't press a direction to recover quickly when they re on the ground.
